Get out in the snow! Critical Mass tonight - near the corner of Clark and Ridge - up near Peterson. (6000 N.) Hope to see you all there! 6:30 meet up, 7pm - we're off. Dubi has some really good plans for tonight, ending up somewhere warm - he calls it the circle of doom. I don't know what that means, but I'm intrigued, and hope you are too! Ride on!

I like the Surplus over by Uptown Bikes, too, except they close at 6pm so it's hard to get there on time. Broadway just south of Leland, right? Check out the footwear, too!

No such thing as bad weather, just the wrong shoes!

I 2nd glove liner with, er, sniper mitt. (I never knew that was the term). My husband swears by his lobsters though.

Remind me where there's a real army surplus store, not a hipster department store.

No way! forget lobster--human fingers don't want to work that way. Forget "bicycle" gear--too expensive. Go to the army surplus nearest and get wool glove inserts. The five finger variety are about $4.00 a pair and work perfectly inside the sniper mitten variety which sell for about $6.00 a pair. These mittens leave index finger and thumb free and work wet or dry 'cause there ain't no science yet that can top what a sheep makes! (I asked a veteran of the Afghanistan conflict about the more expensive shells that are supposed to go over the mittens. He tells me that they actually make it colder somehow.)

I went out for the first time last night in this years snow and it was awesome! No one on the road but me and my winter bike. Cheers to having multiple bikes for multiple uses :)

Yes, I guess I might have to try the lobster gloves. My current glove system (windstopper gloves under a larger shell snowboarding glove) certainly didn't work for more than 15 minutes this morning before my finger tips were complaining.

My Planet Bike gloves are the poor man's version. I've worn them two winters and never needed anything else.
