I didn't bring my camera today, so no pics from me. I hope someone else got some. I'd love to have a shot of the young man who just turned 3 and did most of the ride today solo on his own bike without training wheels. I was proud of myself ditching my own training wheels when I was 5. Now I'm feeling humbled.

Liz, sure ask Tony his plans. I talked to him previously and he was interested but getting a firmer commitment would be good. Also ask if he would be interested in August if July doesn't work out.

Want me to check with Tony (APB) about July?

I started a discussion for the July ride location. Please jump on this ASAP. A couple initial thoughts are to try something in coordination with APB (Albany Park Bikes) or perhaps in Portage park as a man from there (Eddy Cortez?) came to one of our early meetings and told us they do an annual kids bike ride there on the 4th of July and that could be a good promo opportunity for a kidmass ride on the 17th.

Andrew, Good catch.

I hadn't added the event listing because I expected Jason or Karen to do so as they are the primary organizers for this ride. However, since it wasn't done yet I went ahead and added it. It sometimes takes a while though for new events to get approved and posted so check back later if you don't see it.

Jason & Karen, please go to the event I posted for May 8th and invite your friends.

I can be pretty dim sometimes, but I'm not finding an event posting for May 8th Palmer Square; I noticed upon seeking to invite friends.

Publicity! I was contacted by a writer who usually writes for the ATA newsletter and he put together an article/or listing (i'm not sure which) that got picked up by Time Out Chicago Kids Section. So the Kidical Mass rides for May 8th (Palmer Square) and May 15th (Rogers Park) will be promoted in Time Out Chicago.

Meanwhile those are the last CONFIRMED Kidical Mass rides we have on the books.

There was talk of a Little Village ride or down around UIC or... Anyone interested in hosting the next Kidical Mass ride in your neighborhood? This would be for the third Saturday (June 19).

Now is the time to decide it and start publicizing it...Who wants a Kidical Mass ride in their neighborhood?? Make your voice know now..

Todd, I will join you on May 8 for the test ride.
I think that with our Warren Park start we should ride the path that goes around the south side of the golf course and loops up to Pratt. Short but the park is always nice to ride. And then we can easily get onto Oakley or Hamilton or any of the streets north of Pratt. The potential ride route you have selected is just about fully in west Rogers Park (far west). I wonder if we want to include the neighborhood just east of Ridge. Something like...
from Warren Park:
N on Oakley, E on Estes
ride couple of blocks, loop south to Lunt
W on Lunt to Indian Boundary...

Of course, this would mean a small hill to ride down on Estes and up on Lunt. Just a thought. Both Estes and Lunt have stoplights across Ridge

Regardless, I will definitely come along for the test ride. And I will try to find some time this weekend to do some neighborhood riding.

Dear Kidical Mass members-

we are planning next weekend's Spring Green Bike Tour (Sat May 1st).

First you all are invited to attend & bike.

Second, we are planning a stop at Palmer Square to promote the Kidical Mass rides & Bike Boulevards Now! to the Spring Green Tour participants.

I'm wondering if anyone from the group would be interested to speak to the tour and offer 5 min of remarks & then field Questions about general bicycle advocacy and especially the Kidical Mass rides & Bike Boulevards agenda? I'm trying to spread the presentations around to variety of people so the tour isn't all my commentary and we can get multiple perspectives & speakers.

Would you be interested in addressing the crowd about your interest in bike advocacy and bike community within the Logan Square/Palmer Square/Humboldt Neighborhoods?

Let me know if you are interested in attending or addressing the tour.
