We need to settle on a June ride ASAP so we can publicize in time. Please make your suggestions/votes here. I'd really like to have this settled by Monday.

My suggestion would be for a ride down by UIC or Little Village. Anybody down in that area who would be able to help with planning or publicizing?

I've talked with Justyna Frank about a ride near UIC. We're considering Recreation Field near Roosevelt and Halsted as a start location and Ping Tom park as a potential destination. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I think UIC is great. What is the date for the ride again? Is the rotating ride going to be the 3rd Saturday of the month?

Yes, it's for June 19th, the 3rd Saturday.

Has there been any forward development for the UIC area ride? Justyna or anyone else?
for Sat June 19th?? Just checking in. if the ride gets organized we can start promoting it now...

I don't know if you've been choosing THEMES for these rides, but I have an idea for June:
JUNEBUG!- you don't have to try to look like an actual junebug, because they are not the most attractive insect if you ask me, but kids and parents with antennae on their helmets! and maybe bee stripes or ladybug polkadots! I think it would be a vision!

Also, I LOVE Ping Tom park! Great destination idea.

Ok, Justyna Franks of Rapid Transit has graciously taken on the task of helping plan and organize this ride. Her proposal is that we start in the plaza at Maxwell st. & Newberry Ave. on the east side of recreation field. This location has near by parking, a coffee shop, ice cream parlor, jamba juice, etc. and plenty of space for kids to assemble and play including some off street paths in recreation field.

For the ride, the suggestion is to skip Ping Tom as the access routes aren't very kid friendly and instead go north west to Sheridan park which has a fieldhouse with bathrooms. Also nearby are Vernon park and Arrigo park and the surrounding streets are mostly residential streets that are quiet and pleasant.

If anyone has any strong feelings about this or alternate suggestions please speak up ASAP! As we will start promoting this very soon.

BTW, I'm starting up a new discussion for July. If you want to pitch a new ride location please do so there.

Tzippy, we haven't done themes, but it would be fun. However, I'll leave the debate up to Barbra, Jami and the others with the mad art skillz. I'll see if a music search for Junebug turns up anything...

Also, Tzippy if you or any of the Acapedal singers want to try and do sing-a-longs for the kids on these rides I think it would be perfect. I could play any background music of your choice if desired.

I have a number of interested people asking me about the next set of Kidical Mass rides.

I'm seeing the start location for June is the plaza at Maxwell st. & Newberry Ave. on the east side of recreation field. Will the June tour meet at 10:30am/ leave at 11am like our standard tour model?

Is this confirmed info that we can promote to the public via various media?

Yes 10:30/11:00 was posted to the chainlink calendar, the top of the chainlink group, to the ATA calendar and the BikeChicago calendar, the Daily Candy and Timeout Kids and the fliers I've been passing out.

Is Justnya making the route for this ride? Do we need to put up any flyers next week? I can do so after work next week if necessary.
