Hey everyone, please speak up with your suggestions/votes for the August Kidical Mass ride.  I'd like to have this settled within two weeks.

It's particularly helpful when someone offers to help plan and promote the ride.  Familiarity with the suggested neighborhood both for route design and for flyering and promotion opportunities are a huge plus.

Please avoid Sunday, August 29th as that is the new date for Boulevard Lakefront Tour starting at UIC.
I'd really like to get down on the Southside more, perhaps Hyde Park and go from Jackson Park to Washington Park. Unfortunately, I can't boast any degree of familiarity with the area, though I'd be happy to help plan a route and put up some flyers in stores/public areas.
Kathy, this ride is for the 3rd Saturday in August. The 21st. Which also happens to be my B-day...

Jami, I've got some good friends in Bronzeville that organize a yearly bike tour there. I could contact them about helping host a ride to or from Washington park.

Also, long time critical masser Hui Hwa is a school teacher at Finkl Academy in Little Village, 23rd & Western, which might work for a Sept. ride when school resumes.

As a Hyde Parker, I'd stump for Washington Park as a starting location. There are lots of bike-borne kids of all ages around here--and King Drive has nice side-roads, as does Drexel Blvd. If it's hot weather, there's also the pool/waterslide in Washington Park as a finishing destination/reward.
Hi herdingbats, my Bronzeville friends would like to host a Washington park based Kidical Mass ride and since there hasn't been any other proposals here so far, it looks like the best bet at the moment. I'll be doing the Historic Bronzeville Bicycle Tour on June 26th and if there still haven't been any other stronger proposals will firm up the plans that day for the August ride.

If we commit to a ride from Washington park any assistance you could give in suggesting a route or joining me for a route test ride or flyering would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds great! I'll happily flyer around the coffee and bike shops and at least a couple of schools around HP and Woodlawn --and stump in person, too. We're aiming to bring the family to this Saturday's ride at Maxwell Street, so we can meet in person and talk about route planning and such.

I'm Tim, by the bye, in real life, and the family is Thelma and Nellie (trailerbike now, but possibly pedaling herself by August!) and Varro (littlest one, in the trailer).
