Hey all! Just a reminder. We have critical mass this Friday...6:30 mass up, 7 - take off! Meet up where Peterson, Ridge, and Clark meet up. Explore neighborhoods you rarely make it to on the downtown Chicago Critical Mass. Bring your best friend. Bring your mom. Bring your boss. Bring your co-worker who has never even taken public transit to work, let alone rode a bike. This is going to be great. Haul your trailer up north, and get ready for fun. The theme is New Orleans as we say goodbye to northside rider Jason. Bring your beads. Whoot! Whoot! We're going to have some fun! Heeeeeeyyyy yeah!
XOXO

So i couldn't get any info from friends cause the Police on the South side are dedicating a lot of their force to this:

http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2009/05/cop-seriously-injured-in-3-car-crash.html

If they do intend on being stringent with the mass they will also not be in a good mood as I'm sure they will consider us a waste of their time when they want to be hunting for the assholes that robbed an injured cop. (They took his gun (as the story notes, they also took his wallet and house keys). At this point it the officer is partially paralyzed and it may be permanent because of the robbers.

Both routes go south tomorrow so if you are going to have an interaction with an officer know that this is likely on their mind. Be careful and be good.

(An up note for the investigation is that the officers SUV had a dashboard cam and it continued taping while the officer was being robbed. There was also a woman that witnessed the whole thing but did nothing, she was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant. Human sleaze)

Thanks for the info, Todd. I'm actually against the Olympics, and the ride is oriented to informing folks about the effects on the community, especially poor folks and people of color on the South Side. The public parks that will be taken out of public use for who-knows how long. At any rate, the ride will visually demonstrate the effects to people involved, so you can make up your own mind, but I will put out info the Daley machine won't. That's my idea. I'll go through the CM listserv. See ya on the road! Cheers.
