I don't disagree, I just wanted to make it very simple.

My thing is that even in the short time I have been attending and paying attention to CCM it seems like a few people who are extremely vocal have little interest in suggestions or input that run counter to what they want and I think that runs against the spirit of CCM.

Wanting to lead is fine but I think people have to recognize that they are leading something beyond themselves with a purpose and direction decided by the mass itself.

Everyone needs to step back and remember what this all is; a big mob of people on bikes with no real leader or direction beyond riding bikes.

In my opinion as well; well expressed.

I thought routes and such where decided by the mass at the start of the mass if there where different maps?

I thought whoever has a sound system decides the music that will be heard within range of their bike.

All this talk to what mass is supposed to be that talks about leaders, votes, and decisions seems to me to be missing the point of what mass is supposed to be all about.

Everyone needs to step back and remember what this all is; a big mob of people on bikes with no real leader or direction beyond riding bikes.

what happened to voting on ride route and music?
There are a number of destinations and music propositions on the table. Some act like we are only interested "their" decisions. A good group moderator/facilitator should be neutral and allow the chips to fall where they may. And please do weigh in with you own well informed point of view but keep your finger off the scale.
Lets ride.

'"If you want to build a ship," counseled author Antoine de Saint-
Exupéry, "don't drum up the people to gather wood, divide and assign the work, list the tasks, and then give orders. Instead, teach them all to yearn for the joy of the vast and endless sea."
In our case "endless road"
Let's keep riding and voting.

Any desire for incorporating some pro-bike or perhaps some car-hate agitation into a ride/route/theme?

Possible things to tie into:

Bridge tour / kathy plates
Areas that have lost parking meters but not gained bike racks
Open streets/Sunday parkways
bike lane issues - additions, maintenance, enforcement, etc.

I vote for going to Pilsen and then hydePark.

Hey sound system people: how about a woman's artist only theme for "International Woman's Month - March 2010.

Re archive: Not easily findable from ChicagoCriticalMass.org has come up before, but mine's distinct enough that I didn't feel right giving it weight, being a specialty retrospective collection which includes some non-CCM.
The existing route flyers upload area on main site also serves as archive, but lacks some (that I found in person or in photos), and has much not strictly route flyers. But thanx, I did finally add a link to mine here: http://chicagocriticalmass.org/links
Thoughts on that, and supplemental details on the maps shown are welcome.

On brief review at least one mass each year goes well South.
