Don't you have a strap for it? I also thought that you were funny

I was part of the group that splintered off and was "lost" for a while. The Loyola group ended up with us and thanks to text messages we managed to reconnect with the mass and as Julie stated they were super grateful, especially since we were stalled on Halsted and Webster for 20 minutes with no where to go. I like the CM rides but hope that in the future people would actually understand what it means to "mass up".

separate mic is the way to go.
It is somewhat unsafe to use the other kind while rolling.
Maybe there is a place to add a separate mic into your unit.
I will bring mine next time also. As the mass gets larger we need a few more anyways.

I'm glad to hear it was self referential; I rode near you for a period and enjoyed it. It actually made me regret having forgotten mine at work.

What you need is one with a separate mic that you can strap to the basket; mines like that and I expect to have it next month.

Well there has been a very contentious disgarrement/regret of my livein gf who has doubted having it since giving to me for XMAS. She completely did not believe me when I told her about some of the positive feedback that I received.

I have to admit. It was a pain in the ass to ride with. 1) no opportunity for flask sips, 2) I need to find a better way to ride with it, and 3) I know I am an ass and it is ok . . . .

Just remember, there will always be problems and frustrations and jerks. I appreciate the vim and vigor about them, but how do you/we really control them. I guarantee that they do not read this or anything besides Penthouse forum (at the 5th grade level). I gave very direct feedback to them on the ride, but what do ya do . . . . thanks to everybody here who loves this ride and loves riding in the great city of Chicago!

Spencer, I am just going to agree to disagree with you on that because I just don't have the energy to argue a point we are never going to meet on but I do appreciate the offer to help with presentation. It's nice to see somebody who can hold an opposite opinion but still support somebodies right to disseminate said opinion; I honestly have a deep respect for that.

I think your attitude is an excellent example of what moves things forward rather then mires them in bullshit by taking it all to personally. It is possible to acknowledge and respect but still disagree with somebodies opinion; it's when you dismiss those that disagree with you that it goes haywire.

So, with all of this said. It seems many of you agree that there are people who ride every month who tend to make the mass an unpleasant place for some of the participants and it's bystanders. That's fair and you are entitled to your opinion. I am not really sure I believe it's as epidemic or as extreme but I certainly empathize.

Perhaps those of you who feel this is a problem could start producing literature expressing your point of view. Or maybe make a map around the theme of not being a douche. Though I don't fully agree with your point of view I would be willing to help. If you needed marketing and graphic design experience I would certainly assist in "snazzing up" your message. If you want your point to be taken seriously by your audience you'll need to appeal to their demographics. So I guess your first step would be to determine exactly who are the problem, why they are the problem, and what can be done to solve the problem without changing the open nature of the Mass.

OR NOT, who am I to suggest tactics to anyone.

Todd: I fail to see how semi-aggressive rudeness makes a positive statement for bike advocacy.

Not to be a butt but does CCM really have a message of bike advocacy? I've never really been able to buy that premise. After all we are technically illegally gathering (constitutional debate aside) and causing large numbers of motorists, public transit riders and pedestrians delays. To make matters worse we choose arguably the busiest time of the month to ride. I would imagine if advocacy was at the top of the list of CCM it would have disbanded a long time ago.
