For anyone with a pond, tub or container garden, I have various surplus plants - taros, snowflakes, pickerel rush, dwarf cattails and a pigmy water lily or two available.

i will also post in the swap/trade group as well, but I have a large rainbarrel I'd like to swap for a smaller one.

Have babies out of everything: lettuce, spinach, chard, kale, carrots, beets, bok choy, broccoli, radishes, mache, and the peas are getting rather tall, will probably flower this week! Haven't moved out any tomatoes, peppers or basil yet...soon soon.

I had planned to plant various items (pole beans, tomatoes), but given that the rain on Thursday decimated my basil that I had planted on Wednesday, I decided to hold off a bit. Instead we did our semi-annual chicken coop cleaning. Takes 2 people about 4 hours of hard work. Glad that we got that done for the summer

Also the tomato seedlings look like they may have bacterial canker. I am going to wait another week to see how they develop.

On the upside, We've been eating salad from our garden all week last week.  This week we'll harvest kale and spinach, and I hope that the peas will be ready in 2-3 weeks.

A couple plant sales coming up that may be of interest:

My big excitement for the week was going out to the hoophouse during a midnight rainstorm, turning on the lights and seeing slugs everywhere.  Harvested nearly half a pound of pure slug goodness.

Fortunately I didn't have to google for recipes as a couple of our hens love them.  Funny though the other two absolutely hate them and after one taste were wiping their beaks on my jeans over and over again.

After 3 days of feeding out slugs I'm nearly out.  It's raining again and I ought to go out for another batch but its easier to sit here and surf the web.

Thanks Anne A- I will try to hang in there a couple more weeks! At this point they're in the only spot high enough in my apartment that the cats can't get to them. But they're also not getting the best light there. Oh well, it's mostly just basil which I've found does well in spite of your best efforts to screw it up. Close to half of my garden is going to be basil this year, I can't get enough of it!  Pesto all summer long!

Looking at the current forecast for the next 10 days, you might be okay, but you might want to consider intermediate options if you have any.

Do you have any enclosed porch space or other protected area that would offer conditions between what you have inside and whatever the weather may bring us outdoors?  If you do, and the seedlings can get enough light there, my suggestion would be to keep them there another 2 weeks, or find some way to protect the seedlings from the cat.

I know how determined they can get (got 2 myself), so I understand that can be a challenge.  I created a cat-protected spot and am planning to wait until around 5/13 to plant outdoors, depending on weather.

When are folks putting their seedlings out?

I've looked at last frost date stats (below) but might need to disregard and get these seedlings out of my house and away from my cat who is determined to destroy them. I don't have a very good set up this year.

Howard, I'm sure I can spare a few.
