Anyone think that this is at all likely to happen?

Snow forecast later this week. Hey, it's November
November 1, 2010 12:42 PM | No Comments
A 150 mph jet stream is expected to steer a cold front through the Chicago area this week -- and maybe snow too.

The cold front should hit the middle of the week, driving lows in the Chicago area Thursday night to the low 30s, when rain mixed with snow is in the forecast, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Andrew Krein.

i SOOOO love the stickers this year!!!
and puttin in my vote for merino wool. that or cashmere. and it doesn't have to be the pricey stuff. spending a little while at marshall's or village thrift can land you some amazing winter gear [in some fabulous colors no less]

Some people don't agree that getting layered is the way to stay warm, and at least with high intensity activities in extreme conditions, there is a lot to be said for vapor barrier clothing. This might only apply for longer rides than the morning commute. Nonetheless, here's a link to a good pro-vapor barrier screed (and source of excellent camping equipment, too): http://warmlite.com/vapor-barrier

Here's a link to a bunch of hard core winter riders in Massachusetts. Check out the photo gallery and their cold weather gear tips.

Looked for the Bike Winter folks on Sunday but, er, wound up at the wrong coffee shop. Oops.

Thanks to Fred, Kathy, and Todd for coming out to help turn hipsterland blue with anticipation.
Lots of bikes out, but not too many clues as to how they got there as only a handful of people were riding (due to the low temps? Or just because it was a Sunday?)-- in any event for those expecting to find a group along the roadside there was no point to doing so, so we canvased instead.

Heya folks,
On Sunday the 3rd we're gonna have a little Bike Winter outreach operation (Fred N. presiding)-- meet at Starfrack's, Paulina and Division, at 12:30 P, and we'll head over to a busy street (Division, Milwaukee, or both) and dole out some sticker love.

Once you guys both have your [ahem] "rain pants," I'd be careful about riding with people dressed as Native Americans or construction workers. It could be sending the wrong message.

Hey folks,
Please request to join this group if you're able to help plan/brainstorm the 2011 Swap/Expo:

I gave out a bunch at the mass Friday night, maybe 200 or so.
If I had to estimate how many I had left, it might be 500.
This would be the time to get them out there . . .
I think a sticker ride is a great idea, although not sure how much free time I can devote in the next 203 weeks.
