You Can Spend $5.2 Million in Chicago Menu Funds for Better Bicycling

There are 4 Chicago Aldermen who each have $1.3 Million to spend in their wards and want their constituents to tell them how to spend it. This is called participatory budgeting. If you want that money to go towards bicycling infrastructure, now is your chance. Click on the link below to find the dates and locations of participatory budgeting meetings in those wards, so you can make a difference on the streets we ride. Makes me wish my ward (19th) had participatory budgeting.  Another thing to ask for...

Joe Moore hasn't done anything to make getting to Evanston any easier yet.  Last year it was determining which artists got money and permission to paint murals on some the Red Line underpasses.  This year the boundaries changed and I'm in the 48th.  I guess Osterman's cash will all go to letting Loyola take over all my local streets and making sure everyone in Andersonville is still coddled.

When I lived in the 49th, I asked more than once for a contraflow lane on Eastlake from Rogers to the Sheridan curve, and that didn't happen.  The Howard St. bike lanes help a little bit.

Seems like too many otherwise good bike streets are either one way on the Chicago or Evanston side of Howard (such as Custer-Damen) or lack a 4-way stop to make it reasonable to cross Howard.  Chicago Ave. has always sucked to varying degrees, but most of the difficulty in connecting is on the Evanston side of the border.
