Ten Thousand is coming up in 4 weeks.

Im trying to get in some rides with vertical gain before then.

Only good climbs I know are out by Lockport, Lemont, Willow Springs, Waterfall Glen, Palos.

Timberline repeats are probably in order.

Do you have a favorite climb nearby?

If you have the time to go, try the Driftless area of Wisconsin, NW Illinois near Galena, or Kettle Moraine.

With a search you will notice that the Ten Thousand actually takes place in NW Illinois, starting out of Freeport. Pete, do you have a good link for this event? What I found online was rather lacking in details.

I don't know if you saw the CL event for it but it has a link to their FB event page:

It doesn't have lots of information but hopefully can help you learn more about the event. Hope that helps!

Yeah, I did follow that. Not much intel.

Yah I know about it.

Thats why I want to train on some up and downies.

Wondering where  folks train for hill climbs around city???

I know enough that its a crusher.

Just want to get in a couple of good days of hill rides before the onslaught that Bailey has mapped out.

Will try to get out to Jo Davies before then.

Theres are a few versions of this mapped on Strava and Ride GPS.

Heres a version from Poppa Wheelie

Event seems kind of on the un-official on the down low.

Guess they dont want thousand s of masochists showing up.

Routes will be posted a week prior to event.

So making it hard to do pre-riding.

Might be a 50,70,120 mile routes.

A good headwind and some load is a good substitute for a hill if you can't find one of those.

Agreed, Rode 70 mile headwind from Michiagan last week . Still.... looking for some new hills without driving to them.
