Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

Dearborn on Wednesday evening. Guy texting.

You trust people a lot more than I do, and I ride Dearborn every now and then when I can't face the prospect of going through Navy Pier/beach traffic.

Chicago *really* needs to implement the "Box" like New York. A vehicle caught in the box when the light turns gets a $115 fine. Of course, if they enforced it like they enforce the no parking in bike lanes law they'd wind up with practically zero revenue.

When I moved to Chicago the intersections at rush hour had police directing pedestrians and  traffic with the lights. There's a lot more gridlock these days.

Happy Friday one & all. Old news to some I'm sure. They're hardening the Dearborn north/south bicycle lane south of zero/zero addresses east/west north/south. This shot this morning 7 am - they're replacing the plastic spikes w/concrete. As regular cyclists know - a determined Chicago motorist may still find a way...."what a perfect parking spot for my mini-cooper!!!" but it's an improvement. Good weekend to one & all.
