Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)
My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.
Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane
With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming
#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)
#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.
We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

You can see in the photo that the truck operator is draining a waste tank - where else do you think he is supposed to park?
There is an entrance to the work site on Polk, he could go (no pun intended) in there.
Right. I think the problem to the question of "where is he supposed to park?" is that it implies that parking in the bike lane is a superior option to parking on the sidewalk, or in the car lane. All are equally objectionable from a legal and ethical perspective. At the very least, cones should be placed around the perimeter of the truck at a distance great enough to allow for displaced cyclists to pass safely without having to merge into the motor-vehicle lane.
I agree, there are times/situations when there isn't a better option, such as the Divvy station on Polk by the PINK line station - the choices for the DIVVY re-balancer are the main traffic lane, the bike lane, or the bus stop. In those situations, I just grumble to myself and keep pedaling.
On the other side of the fence?
If the driver's only options are to park illegally, then the city should crack down on these businesses.
