"Due to the unsustainable costs of renting extra trucks to accommodate delivery of holiday packages, UPS is employing bicycles with little trailers towed behind them in select neighborhoods around the Bay Area."

I realize the link in my previous post may not be too obvious.

It would take one hell of a cargo bike to deliver from my (UPS) warehouse.

Nice, I hope other companys are inspired.

Same here.

Damn, it makes me happy to see this.

I worked for UPS for 4 years while in college.  Due to their labor practices, I ship as little as possible through UPS.  Is FEDEX any better?  Nope, to me, it just ain't UPS.

I find their claim of "unsustainable costs" for renting seasonable delivery vehicles laughable.  UPS makes a shitload of cash, it's almost unfathomable.  Perhaps if they stopped sending cash to Washington to lobby for the destruction of the US Postal Department, they wouldn't be in such dire straights.

Regardless of all my thoughts on the matter, it is kinda cool to see them delivering by bike.  Perhaps they should try that here and in NYC.
