Thoughts on the P.A.C.E. (Post Antagonism Chainlink Era)

All,

So it occurred to me late last night that with the new civility in place we are in the P.A.C.E. (Post Anger/Agitation/Acerbic/Antipathy/Antagonism Chainlink Era)

Which is great but my suspicion is that traffic for the site is down.  Lee more or less said at one point that conflict leads to higher metrics.  If you look to the right there are advertisers and for them and others those metrics matter.  As of right now, Monday morning the front page has posts from Friday on it which seems sleepy to me.

So if we take out the snarl and spittle what is going to replace it?  There is a void there and for the site to keep on something has to come in to replace it.

In this please post something, be a little more liberal in your replies. I'm going to make an effort at it and hopefully you will to. Have you posted or replied today? If not why?

H

(PS going to self bump this for a while and hopefully it gets some views)

(PPS has the 'link lead to any marriages that we know of? It seems to be one of the marks of honor that a website can have)

This is my new footer, hopefully it's not an issue since I plan to use it for a while at least.

For responders with nothing but snark: If your life is so sad you derive pleasure from being insulting I feel sorry for you as do most other people. Rather than being a detractor find something interesting and post it, you'll feel better about yourself and other people will like you more. Thanks, Haddon.

Fuck you.

That's rude even by my standards.

+1

Also +1 to envane, while I'm at it.

I take the first reply as tongue firmly in cheek; the second as an indication that the op was correct given their previous history; and the third as a healthy challenge to us all.  (sigh)  Still, in the past we would already be at a bad place. Now, a provocative comment has been made without a whiff of  nastiness nor  snarl.  The irony is that it may show that the provocateur was wrong. We don't have to be boring. We can discuss tough stuff and we don't have avoid conflict. We can do so without being... to use the vernacular...dickwads.  Ok, maybe I am a pollyanna. I can already see Envane typing out a two word tongue in cheek re reply.  Where were we?  Oh, yes, a bike Forum...I rented a Divvy today.  Really. I did. (he said as the thread listed away from its intention)...

1. Unthink conflict as a desirable metric.  That path leads to Fox News and the NY Post.

2. The space already is seeing new tentative actions from the previously trampled gentlerfolk.

3. LOVE yer sig line.

Thank you!

Unthink conflict as a desirable metric.   Yes, please!

"Unthink conflict" says the shitliberal, as he bashes conservative media.

OK, lets be blunt here.  I specifically commented that your first comment was tongue in cheek.  You have now called  Andronoymous a "shitliberal". I do not take that as tongue in cheek but as a direct personal attack.  Any, let me repeat, any further direct attacks will have unfortunate results.  Do not, let me repeat, DO NOT repeat this activity.  I erred in viewing an earlier response poetically. I will now engage in a direct personal attack...on myself... I was a fool when I assumed a poetic or tongue in cheek reply.

And as a guide for future action...

I  would  not have replied as such had you stated-

"Unthink conflict" says the liberal, as he bashes conservative media.

but you did not  do so.

Traffic for the site was down this weekend because most Chainlinkers were out there cycling in the ideal fall weather we had and were not posting. It usually does drop off after work hours on weekends.

I don't find civility as being boring and sleepy. Advertisers do not want to be associated with angry agitating snark, snarl, and spittle. The answer is for more members to come out of hiding and contribute. It does take some time and effort to post something, but it is for the good of the community.

In this new Chainlink civility era, don't worry about metrics. Worry about what this is supposed to be. This is a cycling site. This is The Chainlink.

LOL, well played. :)
