You blew the red light east bound on Lawrence at Damen at 5:26 pm this evening.

There was enough time for the biker in front of me to make it half way into the intersection, northbound on Damen, before you came whizzing past my front wheel.

I yelled "You're an idiot!" at your big haired chick, self, and you looked back at me. I meant it!

I woulda testified for any of the cars, that managed to not kill you, if they had.

Keep riding like a tard!

love,

gabe

Witness bad behavior during your commute? Feel free to post. Maybe that lovely human can read it and think they are famous. Maybe you can also inspire the whole generation of kids to shower but we can start with small things.

What I just said ^^ about enforcement applied to cyclists.

To the old lady riding a road bike on the sidewalk on Madison by Target, with your helmet hanging from the handlebars - please don't hit any pedestrians.  And you're old enough to know better.  Please be a better cyclist and stay safe.

As an occasional Divvy user (when I don't have my own bike downtown), I try to keep up with the flow of traffic, but I gotta tell you - the Divvy bikes are geared sooooooo low that even in high gear I've found myself pedaling like a mad woman to keep up.

I apologize to the people going eastbound on kinzie and wells (merchandise mart station) around 5:50 pm today. If I cut you off, i sincerely apologize for it and you should know why I had to cut you off. The guy on the dodge charger making an unexpected right turn caused me to stop skid but I couldnt stop completely and I was clipped in to my pedals kind of tight so I had to cut you off so that I wouldn't crash into the jerks car. I noticed some of you jumped off your bikes and well again, I'm sorry. By the way for you divvy riders, please keep up with the flow of traffic. You guys make me nervous.

He already did.  That would have been a collision if I didn't speak up.  It would have been difficult to avoid hitting him if he'd stepped out instead of stopping at the edge of the lane when I called out.

Well said. He might actually benefit from your calm handling of the event.

Yesterday: to the pedestrian crossing mid-block on Dearborn, emerging from between giant parked SUVs into the protected bike lane, you should be glad that I was watching and saw you approaching before you ducked between the cars.  If I had hit you, one or both of us could have ended up in the ER.  My teachable moment to him: "This is a traffic lane. Please be careful and look first."

Riding home tonight from Target, westbound on Logan, a car passed me inches away while the driver yelled that I do not belong on the boulevard. He then stopped in front of me, got out, and continued his screaming tirade about it being illegal to bike on the boulevard. When I read his plate out loud and said I would call the police, he claimed to be an officer (he was not in uniform or in a marked car). He left when I dialed 911 and started making a report.

The whole thing really freaked me out. Thanks to the guy in the black car (Prius?) who was stopped behind me, and circled back to check if I was okay while I was on hold with 311 afterwards - very kind of you.

What a fantastic night for riding!!

You: Amazing weather to and from work

Me: enjoying every minute of it

I hope our paths cross again sooner than later!

Where do people get these ideas??

I think it usually goes like this: "I don't like you and I don't like what you're doing, and I don't think you should be allowed to do it, so I'm going to just tell you that you can't. No, wait, better to scream at you."

Heh... on the Jackson lane I never see more than 1 or 2 other bikes going from Loomis to Clinton.

I saw several Divvy bikes. Maybe they will be successful. Ridiculously small rear lights though.

...It's just so much traffic on the bike lanes nowadays that I have to just keep out of them to get somewhere fast...

To the Divvy biker in the SB Dearborn PBL, turning east onto Lake around 7:00am this morning:

Everything about the situation absolutely read as if you were about to turn left directly in front of the oncoming/northbound cars that had the green light. I'm sure you were planning to stop in the green turn box (as you did), but everything about your velocity suggested otherwise. The cab driver was right to honk and you overreacted by screaming obscenities at him.

What is the deal with people using the sidewalk on North Ave between Elston and Kingsbury? Almost every AM and PM when walking to and from the office I have someone riding their bike, sometimes at road speed, down the sidewalk. Icing on the cake, a few get pissed at me for calling them out and or being in the way.

Get on the road!

Special shout out to the young fella on the yellow fixie that got close enough we connected while I was walking across the street. You may love me but I am not a fan of you. Oh and if you are going to make a smart ass remark don't do it to someone from your hood. when you are a block away from your house... I know where you live now.

Im not giving excuses for sidewalk riding but that section blows for cyclists just east of the bridge. I haven't been in that area for a while and try to avoid it as much as possible. In my experience cars really don't give a damn about cyclists in that area.
