You blew the red light east bound on Lawrence at Damen at 5:26 pm this evening.

There was enough time for the biker in front of me to make it half way into the intersection, northbound on Damen, before you came whizzing past my front wheel.

I yelled "You're an idiot!" at your big haired chick, self, and you looked back at me. I meant it!

I woulda testified for any of the cars, that managed to not kill you, if they had.

Keep riding like a tard!

love,

gabe

Witness bad behavior during your commute? Feel free to post. Maybe that lovely human can read it and think they are famous. Maybe you can also inspire the whole generation of kids to shower but we can start with small things.

You know what really sux?  Shoaling, evidently.  You know what sux even more?  Reading "stories" about shoaling, explorations into the moral & ethical dimensions involved in the public act of shoaling, and the virtues of a "shoal-free" lifestyle.

Was this thread really ever "majestic" (in the words of Tim S.)?  I mean, I understand it as an avenue of venting, we all have "war stories", and the original conceit was mildly clever, but as a read it seems to have always sorta sucked.

This thread sucks. Where's all the stories?

Was the couple just watching?

I once looked into a car to see porno going on a dash video screen. Male driver with a lady in the passenger seat. On Halsted at Grand coincedentally.

I guess I missed the "missed connection" -- what exactly happened that you've never seen before??

To the couple inside the Envoy driving south on Halsted nearby Grand/Milwaukee last night: Nice job? Way to blow? Not really sure what to say, but after riding in the city for 10+ years I can safely say I've never seen this come up before last night.  Just wanted to share what I find to be an amusing tale in the hopes of lightening the mood on what's turned into a rather aggressive thread.

Gabe, don't you mean it needs better assholes? :)

But the couple, watching porno by the dashboard light, were they simply watching or were they using it more like an instruction manual??

Maybe it's time to repost the instruction manual for this thread.

Easy now, this thread isn't "the chainlink: after dark"

Oops, sorry -- now returning to our regularly scheduled programming, a seemingly endless stream of pretty flowers (see "I rode today.  Did you?" in your listings.)

I get you, shoaling sucks but it's a fact of life. Now that I read more, it seems like everyone is fixated on being shoaled but who cares. I do it all the time because they won't pass after I pass. Lets get the near miss stories again.

+1. Shoaling is bad behavior, it gets witnessed while commuting and people feel free to post.

I am not getting why discussion of shoaling does not fit the format of this discussion, but near misses do?

Yes. And shoaling counts as bad behavior, although it's a couple of levels below hazardous near misses, IMO.

You: Two Divvy bike riders, Michigan Avenue Northbound at Ontario, 5:15PM last Friday

Riding in the center of the center lane, buses and cabs to the right, hair blowing in the breeze as you cruise down Michigan Avenue.

The light turns green for us pedestrians to cross Michigan Avenue, the first of you blows through the intersection. Dumb, okay, dumb, as the traffic going west on Ontario has the green.

As I reach the center lane of traffic, just after a 147 mega bus that is stopped at the light in the curb lane, #2 rider almost leaves me on the pavement as you follow the first guy through the same intersection.

ME: Too shocked to say anything spicy or quip (I really thought you were done for, I don't know how you made it across that intersection without meeting a bumper)

" HELLO!  RED LIGHT IDIOT! They are for bikes too!"

Can we refer to this discussion if we all want to debate about shoaling?

Bikers that always cut to the front of the line, repeatedly....

Well, I witnessed quite a few purely di*k moves on the ride home today- too many to even mention.

But the #1 King Supreme was this driver on Damen.

Me; Abruptly pulled over because a fire truck had just flipped on lights and siren and was pulling out of the station. You know, to probably save lives or something. Most drivers got the memo.

You; With a carload of people inside your craptastic little beater decided instead of at least stopping, to just swerve into the oncoming lane around the behemoth emergency vehicle nearly getting t-boned and infuriating the driver.

I predict a Russian dashcam encounter in your near future.
