You blew the red light east bound on Lawrence at Damen at 5:26 pm this evening.

There was enough time for the biker in front of me to make it half way into the intersection, northbound on Damen, before you came whizzing past my front wheel.

I yelled "You're an idiot!" at your big haired chick, self, and you looked back at me. I meant it!

I woulda testified for any of the cars, that managed to not kill you, if they had.

Keep riding like a tard!

love,

gabe

Witness bad behavior during your commute? Feel free to post. Maybe that lovely human can read it and think they are famous. Maybe you can also inspire the whole generation of kids to shower but we can start with small things.

Exactly. And you know the drivers behind the car that's granting inappropriate right-of-way are thinking it's the bike's fault.

Yeah, me too. It would be so much faster for everyone if the driver just took their right of way.

To the guy in the hooptied Cutty who passed me on Fullerton as I moved left to turn onto California, shouting, "I wish bikes had motors!" - what does that even mean??

good one anne !

I had a similar one yesterday in roscoe village. approaching a 4-way stop around Berteau; I slowed down, the car that had stopped to my right (she was heading W.B. / I was heading N.B.); then they stopped; I made eye contact and nodded; then as I proceeded into the intersection they decide to head right at me. Dude did they get an earful of 4 letter words.

You: driver reaching 4-way stop in front of my house slightly after I did.

Me: made brief stop then proceeded straight through intersection in front of you, immediately signaling for left turn and starting to move left.

You impatient twit! Did you even LOOK after turning right behind me before you started to accelerate and move left, attempting to pass me on the left just as I was turning left into my driveway right in front of you? Waiting just a second or two would have allowed me to complete my turn and be off the road, out of your path, instead of nearly causing a collision. Do you understand the purpose of turn signals? Apparently not.

May I suggest a remedial Rules of the Road course for you? Have a nice day shithead! You better believe I'll be watching out for you around the neighborhood.

Time for a cold one and a few deep breaths.

To the dude who threateningly asked "Do you have something to say?" to me when he decided it would be fun to ride to the right with the bicycles in a failed attempt to create his own second lane at Milwaukee and Division southbound, forcing his vehicle into a herd of at least 10 bikes, then stopping once he crossed the street and realized he wasn't gonna be able to speed out without killing someone... yeah. I do.

"That was dangerous, and you're an asshole."

But I wasn't going to say it to you at the time, because that kind of threatening language is not something I'm gonna engage with. You had to settle for me shaking my head in disgust and then riding away.

I tend to judge it by how the driver approaches the stop sign. If they're speeding and coming to a screeching halt, then I absolutely will NOT go in front of them. I wave them through if they're hesitating at all. In this situation, the driver approached at a reasonable speed and slowed at a reasonable rate. I was fooled.

I have had this happen and as a result I will never go before a car at a stop. I just look down or look in the other direction until they're clear.

You: Second in line, crossing my path, at a 4-way stop sign.

Me: Waited for the car in front of you, then proceeded into the intersection.

You: Decided to bolt through the intersection on the "coat tails" of your predecessor, passing just a few feet in front of me. By chance ;-) your driver's side window was open.

Me: Left thumb on the button of an air horn just charged up to 80 PSI. Gave you a nice blast.

You: I could tell by your expression and conciliatory hand gesture that you recognized your error and regretted it. I hope this was a learning experience.

Off duty officer roid rage dont tell me about the law, that you were wrong about, then threaten to kick my ass... poor form buddy, poor form.

I doubt the guilty party here will read this, as someone with such reckless disregard for traffic laws and commuting etiquette is unlikely to post on The Chainlink (or so I hope).

You were a heftier, middleish age cyclist on a black mountain bike in a burgundy shirt. It started when you decided to pull the classic ass hat move known as sidewalk shoaling to get in front of me. Despite passing you shortly thereafter at my comfortable pace, you shoaled me again at Addison-Kedzie-Elston, where you proceeded to obstruct traffic for a brief period of time to cut in front other cyclists and right-turning cars. I never had a chance to give you a piece of my mind since you went on to blow every freakin red light you came across, even endangering yourself when blowing the Diversey-Western-Elston red light. I know I will take some heat for saying that you made cyclists look bad (yes, I know, cars shouldn't blow red lights either) but you did. It's one thing to burn a red light when there are no cars in sight (I don't care for this much either, but I'll choose my battles), it's another to disregard a high traffic intersections such as the aforementioned. At least cut out the obnoxious side-walk shoal.

I've seen this guy before (as that's my route too). Blowing Diversey-Western-Elston is just nuts.

My route as well. I've witnessed the risky riding this dude engages in and I'm left wondering. How can the gain of 2-3 minutes over the course of a commute be more valuable than your life?

Boggles the mind.

To the jackwagon in the huge straight frame, CDL needing truck.  USE YOUR TURN SIGNAL!

I now have a charley horse the size of Rhode Island in my calf from my pedal digging in after I fell trying to avoid being crushed.

Oh, and you have a CDL you should know better than to be on your phone!

And it is only 2-3 minutes! My bike computer stops the timer when I'm at a stop (which is actually annoying), but I ran my RunKeeper app this morning and it was literally a 2 minute difference.

Chitown_Mike: Scary!
