You blew the red light east bound on Lawrence at Damen at 5:26 pm this evening.

There was enough time for the biker in front of me to make it half way into the intersection, northbound on Damen, before you came whizzing past my front wheel.

I yelled "You're an idiot!" at your big haired chick, self, and you looked back at me. I meant it!

I woulda testified for any of the cars, that managed to not kill you, if they had.

Keep riding like a tard!

love,

gabe

Witness bad behavior during your commute? Feel free to post. Maybe that lovely human can read it and think they are famous. Maybe you can also inspire the whole generation of kids to shower but we can start with small things.

I run lights and stop signs or jump lights because my goal is to make it from point A to point B is quick as possible with the highest preservation of momentum and without causing another road user to deviate from their path.

You are looking way, way to deep into it; people knowingly run lights because they want to get there quicker regardless of what mode of transportation they are using.

In other words, you are every bit the same thing as a self absorbed driver.

Or entirely not because part of my goal is not interfering with other road users...

But if you want to just blindly judge strager's state of mid based on one arbitrary thing I guess that's cool too.

I run red lights because it's safer than sitting at the intersection waiting to get rear-ended by a driver on their phone.

Funny how I only ever get yelled at and honked at when I actually follow traffic laws...

Here’s some food for thought re: safety and traffic laws.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/women-cyclists-risk-death-by-obe...

Personally I tend to think the irrationally angry motorists are... irrational. I don’t blame them: if i was convinced i needed to sit in a box for an hour staring into one gridlocked intersection after another, while smirking cyclists flowed through one after another, i’d be a very unhappy person too.

Well, that too, of course. I see motorists running red lights on a fairly regular basis without any penalties.

Clad kit wearing roadie here, riding on the North Branch Trail last night. No, tempo/endurance ride does not mean you can suck on my wheel...without asking. Shoulda asked and I wouldn't have dropped you. Don't be a safety hazard and unknowingly suck on another rider's wheel without getting permission. Usually, the answer is yes. Get some manners.

Around 7:47ish AM today –

Yes, I passed you on the right and you yelled at me something like “passing on the right, dick!”

Let’s track back.

I passed you earlier after the construction worker put up the SLOW sign on 9th and Wabash, because a truck was backing up.

Then, as I had forgotten about you, you went ahead and went past me and blew the red light at Balbo and Wabash.

I caught up to you at State and Harrison. You kept encroaching past the BIG WHITE line that’s supposed to keep cars and bicycles from encroaching on to State St.

And because I was not going to pass you on the left and endanger myself from being anywhere close to you, I quickly went around to the meatier part of the bike lane, even off the bike on the right to avoid you and you called me a dick. I could call you a twat, but I won’t.

Let’s meet up for an aspirin binge.

To the driver of the black Ford Escape, IL # P35 0882 on Eastwood Ave approaching Albany @ 7:45AM:

Eastwood is a residential street, with a lot of children on that block. SLOW DOWN!

If you laying on the horn and the 2 tons of metal, plastic and glass you were operating didn't intimidate me then pretending to call the cops isn't going to either. (That's right, I could see your phone and you pretend to dial 911. Poorly.)

You seemed to have a lot to say until you couldn't go anywhere, but managed to clam up and roll your windows tight when I went up to your car, so I will answer your rage statements here.

    a. If you have something to say, say it to my face and not as I am walking away, or when  you think I won't hear it or catch you to respond.

    b. I will not get on the sidewalk. I am not 12 years old, plus it is illegal. Maybe it's time for you to take a refresher Driver's Ed class so you can learn all the new laws passed in the last 40 years.

    c. I am not a bum. I have a full time job and pay my bills, on time even! I CHOOSE to ride for the exercise and the (mostly) peace. I also CHOOSE to not own a car in the city so that I can spend that money on other luxuries.

It really is unfortunate you seem to have so much built in impatience and hostility towards others; yours must be a very joyless and bitter existence. Maybe a bike will help you with those issues.

I particularly love your point c. I am rather sick of people telling me to stop playing with a "child's toy" or that I should suck it up and pay for gas.

Dear drivers rounding the curve on Calvert Street NW (DC),

If you can't manage to stay within your lines and need to go into the bike lane while going 10-20 mph around a simple turn, how did you pass your driving test?! There are too many of you to note because every time I round this curve at least one car drifts into the bike lane.

Yasmeen,

They hand out driver's licenses like candy at Halloween. The inept are rampant everywhere.
