So what do you think of the Domino Pizza makeover? Trib article here. Has anyone tried the new "made-over" pizza?

Their new commercial click here.

I havent had Dominos in 20 years but I'd try it once to see if it's doable. I'm getting sick of paying $30 for an 18in thin crust pie (including tip and delivery/tax).

It's pretty easy to make good pizza once you get the routine down, Costs about $8 for the first pie and $4 each after that from the batch. If you stock up on Items you can do it for less. $30 is a deal if you consider all the work and payroll that has to occur before it arrives to you. I will be happy to give my secret dough formula and tips for sauce.; I could even throw in a Mexican cook as a bonus (just for the first batch). My girlfriend is Mexican and she does pretty much whatever I tell her to do in the kitchen, maybe you would like her too.

they're going to have to do a lot of pr like the stuff they're putting out there to get over the black eye they got from the two folks in north carolina playing with the food and posting it to youtube.

i can't say i'm a big domino's fan. even though i'm from the detroit area originally, i have no home town loyalty for the chain. i was much more of a hungry howie's fan. still, i hope it works out for them. they needed a change.

and like cutifly said, it's not that hard to make a good pie at home for small scratch. just have a few quality ingredients on hand and you're good to go. plus, homemade always tastes better anyway.
avclub (chicago guys) review it:

Marketing hype? Never.

Its impossible to recreate top-tier pizza at home, but even half-assed homemade pizza using canned sauce is better than cheap storebought, and you can experiment with different toppings, cheeses, sauces, etc.
It is not 'impossible', people who say that word are usually proved wrong. Do you need examples ? And yes half azzz usually does mean exactly that, so I don't know exactly what your cooking in your oven.

I noticed the write-up in the Trib and just laughed. There's so much pizza around here that's way better that I have no desire to ever try Domino's again. Cheap and fast isn't enough to compensate for being inedible.

I've tried making my own. The crust is the hard part.
how old is her mom ? aunts ?

just kidding.

Hey - I want that recepie ! I am hoping to make pizza soon at home

Trial and error until you get the perfect homemade pie, it is well worth it. If you don't want to make the dough then go to Trader Joe's, they have good pizza dough.

Domino's pizza was The Colbert Report's Alpha Dog of the Week on January 6th.

Enjoy.
From the AVClub writeup:

# “Last time I ordered Domino’s, I literally couldn’t eat it. This is boring, as opposed to bad.”
# [Fifteen minutes later.] “My stomach isn’t liking this. Dammit, I knew eating this shit when I was ravenous was a bad idea.

Hahaha

And then there's this comment:

“I honestly can't remember the last time I ate Dominos—not to be a snob, but we live in Chicago. Why would you need to settle?” Really? It took actually getting Domino's to come to this conclusion? Did you just move here or something?

I don't know, you can make much better pizza at home than you can get at most takeout places (especially since Chicago is a pretty lousy town for pizza) but for really great pizza you need a commercial oven.
