The article names a David Brown, it's chainlinker Dan Brown. No final call on status but hoping for the best.

I don't drink beer, but Dan sold me on that Upland as the perfect beverage at the end of the first day last year and this year!
It was the last pic he posted on The Chainlink and wrote about the picture:
"chainlink raffle prize jersey / enjoying Upland Wheat Beer with Chainlinkers during Le Tour de Shore day 1 finish at Village Tavern near Indiana Dunes.
and on Friday the 13th !!!"

Dan always showed up. All you had to do was ask. He's a really great guy.

Dan is an amazing dude, all the best thoughts to him! He helped us out at Bike to Brew and is always all over the place, we are sending him good thoughts!

I was on the water Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Winds (and waves) were generally out of the east to northeast much of the weekend. Even still, it's not looking good.

This Tribune story is not encouraging at all. Very sad news. Even for a strong swimmer, 2 miles is a long way to swim again wind/waves out of the west.
Lisa Curcio 6.6mi said:Thanks, Andy. Unfortunately, the latest update in the Tribune is not encouraging. I will have a look at the bikes at Belmont this afternoon.
Always look forward to chatting with Dan along the route of Le Tour de Shore and sharing a beer at the end of the first day. Hoping for the best.

After I took that pic he placed that pitcher on our table for my group to enjoy. Rode with him the morning of the second day and had a couple laughs. My wife felt very sad cause of the news, he mentioned to me that " you're a lucky man, sh's a good woman...". She heard and it brought a smile to her face.

It was so long ago I can't even remember the first time I met him. Always cheery with a smile on his face and told me how much he loved The Chainlink and all the people he met through the site and events.
Oh my, this is a sad story. I used to see Dan at the Thursday night jams at the Old Town School. He brought his guitar, his smile and is infectious attitude. After a while we both figured out that we were riders.
Man, I hope he's okay. This is awful. Dan is one of the few people I've actually met in person from Chainlink and is such a cool dude.
I got to the Village Tavern before my group and sat at this table for a bit. That was a great end to such a lovely day. I'm sorry to read the news about Dan.

Julia, I suspect you're not the only one in that situation. Dan is one of the most ubiquitous* Chainlink members in Chicago. Beer rides, training rides, volunteering at Active Trans rides, hosting card nights, walking his dogs, one sees him everywhere. Lots of good thoughts go out to Dan and his family.
* My dictionary says this: present, appearing, or found everywhere. Constantly appearing.
I just can't think of a better word to describe him.
