A developer is proposing a new bridge over the Chicago river between Chicago and Division streets. It won't be too useful to me in most cases, but I was wondering if anyone else might use it.

The Chicago Ave bridge is so bad, I choose to take the sidewalk and ride down four steps to avoid it every day. Division St near the river is even worse. I would definitely use a new bridge, but I'd rather have the current bridges improved.

Chicago Ave is terrible, not just the bridge. From Wells all the way to Damen(usually all that I would ride, but there's probably more). The bridge is really bad. I remember earlier this year, when everyone, not just cyclists, complained about all of the potholes and the city said there were so many they would have to get to them later this summer/fall. I don't think that will happen before winter. If they don't, I have a feeling there will be many more accidents from potholes this winter.

As for the bridge, I would definitely like to check it out, being that it would be a few blocks from my office. I'm always trying to figure out more convenient rides to destinations.

I'd definitely use it because it looks cool! And riding on it just for the chicane itself!

All I can see when I look at the bridge design is $$$$$$$$. While it looks cool - having it span that far and curve in the middle without additional supports below would make it ridiculously expensive.

Granted I would love a bridge connection in that area - anything to better connect up to the river as a ped/biker would be great!

I'm guessing the curve in the middle is inspired by Copenhagen's wildly successful Snake Bridge, which provides shifting views of the skyline while crossing.

As it's proposed to be installed by the developer, I'm guessing this bridge will have much more utility for tech workers on Goose Island biking down Milwaukee to work than for cross-town commuters heading to River North.

I might use it on occasion. I think it would be most useful to me if I was commuting to a job on Goose Island.

I would cross it just to say I crossed it, but since it's being privately funded by a developer... the odds this actually happens are pretty slim.

Not if it dumps me smack dab in the middle of an asphalt plant or a cement plant. Nice idea but wrong location.

It will be nice to have that option coming from the north after crossing the Cherry Street bridge.
