The Chainlink

I beg your pardon for being so non-bike topical, but I'm running out of ideas, and I'm sure there are some brilliant 'linkers who can help.

I got a busted microwave I want to get rid of responsibly.  I've made numerous "free" posts on CL, and gotten responses and promises to pickup, but no follow through.  Scrappers do come through the alley, but is that a responsible route?  This thing is just taking up space and I don't want to just toss it in the dumpster.  Any suggestions?

I imagine there must be a maker forum of some kind for the chicago area, and I'm sure there are people there who could use microwave parts.

The recycling place on Cortland has a list of what it takes and doesn't.
I go the scrapper route with most stuff.  They come through our alley multiple times a day it seems -probably many different guys on different trucks.  Metal left in plain site doesn't last long.
Here's some info from Chicago Recycling Coalition that might be helpful.

Thanks for the insights everyone.  In the end I just put the thing behind the building, and within 90 minutes a scrapper man was putting in the back of his pickup truck.
