Mayoral Candidates - Who Is Bike Savvy? Thoughts?

When asking around, I heard these three candidates are some potential good bike-friendly options:

Mendoza

Lightfoot

Eniya

Let's use this thread to discuss, bring in articles, quotations, and proof of bike-savviness. Cool?

Attention cycling community members: 

The election day is now nearly half over. After a slow morning rush turnout of voters perhaps due to the gloomy breezy cold and snow flurries, the Board of Elections and many media outlets are now reporting the possibility of a record low turnout for  a Chicago Municipal election. It has been reported that millennial voter turnout is very low today. 

Currently, as an impartial poll worker, I urge all registered Chicago voters to make plans to head to their home precinct polling place where they are registered and vote for the candidate(s) of their choice. You cannot vote at any polling place today as in early voting situations. All polling places are open till 7pm. 

Get out of work early, get on your bike and come in and vote. Hope to see you soon!

I thought I saw tweets from Block Club Chicago saying early voting was hitting record numbers, but when I voted early two weeks ago, there was only one other person voting. The same polling place in November was packed. It is really disconcerting how few people vote in Chicago elections. There are certainly enough people challenging incumbents this time that there is no excuse for saying, "it is always the same people running".

Either way, looking at the run-off candidates, it looks like both don't have a lot of biking experience. I think this would be a great opportunity for bike advocacy - to get them on a bike regularly and address the issues of the bike commuters. It's great they both have bike funding and pedestrian funding in their plans but it'd be even better if they understand the issues and challenges with bike lane enforcement, safety, as well as pedestrian safety.

At a meet and greet with Lori Lightfoot last week, I had a conversation with her talking about bike and ped safety and how ride share impacts both, as well as bus reliability. One point of common ground we found was how Uber/Lyft drivers blocking bus stops and bus lanes - causing gridlock - impacts ped safety in the Loop. That was a hot button issue for her.

Toni is a habitual walker. I see her out and about in the hood all the time, on foot. Granted, being about 6'10" (maybe slight exaggeration), cars can see her from two blocks away. Lori, on the other hand, at about 5' tall, must be at risk every time she steps out into traffic!
