Now that Chicago's lakefront is closed (and seemingly will be for a while), and neighborhood playgrounds/parks are also off-limits, I'm wondering if there are any other car-free options for biking with kids?

There's also the North Shore Channel Trail to consider.

Link and map for the North Branch Trail:

I road from the start at Foster several miles north and back and there were no "trail closed" signs, barricades, or anything else to indicate it was closed.

Wolf Lake trails are a great option for anybody on South/Southeast side. https://www.openlands.org/places/regional-trails/wolf-lake-trails/

Or Old Plank Road trail in the South/SW burbs. https://oprt.org/maps.htm
