The Lakefront Trail was unplowed and unsalted this morning.

These are actually from Wednesday. I had spent a week in Mexico on vacation (did manage to get in one nice ride), then came home with the flu (the real thing, not Montezuma's Revenge) and missed over a week of two-wheeling. Wednesday was my first day back on the bike, so I was happy to take pictures of anything. The sunrise is so-so, but still, you can't have too many. The old Champion spark plug ad from (presumably the long gone) Masters Marine was recently exposed by building demo at Wells and Division, and will shortly disappear again when the new building now going up gets a couple floors. These old ads reminding us of how things used to be are kinda cool, I think. My dad always used Champion spark plugs in his cars...

Nice! You captured the ice and snow right before the big melt. :-)

Yay! The Big Melt. :-)

Very windy. Here's hoping the direction keeps and I get to fly home.

Although it did not seem that bad this morning, I left my bike at home because of the forecasts.  It actually is worse than was forecast.  The wind reports are scary. Flights cancelled at O'Hare and Midway, debris flying everywhere, streets closed, buildings collapsing.  Maybe not Armageddon, I hope everyone is safe out there.  I don't want to hear that you cannot come to the Bike Swap because you were hit by a brick!

It's not worse than the wind storms we had two Halloweens ago, or the fall before that:

Then again it is coming from the south this time. I'm expecting to be wafted home without pedaling at all. Wish I had a kite or small sail or something.

Two words: YEEEEEEEEEE! HAAAAAAAAAAA!
