I used to have quite a headache when I had to get rid of bike grease stains from my clothes every time I serviced my bike. I have read several tutorials for removing grease from clothes. It has solved all my problems. This process includes: using dishwashing liquid, using laundry detergent, baking soda, or stain remover. For dishwashing liquid, you should put a small amount of solution on the yellowed clothes and then brush them clean, then rinse with cold water. As for washing powder, it is the opposite. It is advisable to pre-treat the fabric and then add detergent to wash it.

You  have  touched  on  a conundrum we all  face. One solution is to work on the bike naked.  Another is to wear clothes that are expected to get greased.  A number  of  years ago a cycling friend turned me on  to this stuff. https://goophandcleaner.com/   It has worked well to  get grease off of my clothes and off of myself.

Pre soak overnight in blue dawn dish soap.  Used to get crude oil off birds since the Exxon Valdez.

Hard to find nowadays, but Fels-Naptha laundry bar soap does the trick easily.  Just moisten the stain with some warm water, rub some soap in, brush gently, and rinse. Works like magic. Couldn't find Fels-Naptha at my local market anymore, so I ordered several bars online.

It's important to deal with the stain promptly after it happens. If you throw a grease-stained item in the laundry, my experience is that it gets baked-in, and the only way to get it out is dry cleaning.
