Chicago bike sharing will be known as Divvy, be Chicago flag blue

Though I may never need to use its services, it is really inspiring to see Divvy bikes riding around the west side. This is the kind of transportation system that is looking like it will change the segregated culture of Chicago's neighborhoods.

Say, does anyone know what the deal is if an individual Divvy bike locking station has lights flashing?  That suggests to me there's an issue with either the bike or the station, but I also sometimes see these bikes with lights flashing (but not often).

Individual blinking lights just mean it was ridden recently, and the battery hasn't completely wound down.

Cool, thanks!

I should have taken a picture, the lights are on the locking station itself, and on the opposite side of where the bike's front tire goes.  I've been grabbing a Divvy at Jackson & State and noticed this for the first time earlier this week, I was wondering if this might be some high-tech way they flag bikes which are to be moved to another station or something like that.

Are you talking about the head tail lights on the bike? The dynohub has a standlight that keeps the lights flashing for awhile after the bike stops. This is really so that the lights stay on at stoplights, but also means that the lights on bike that has just been dock will be flashing in the dock. If you're asking about the yellow and green lights on the dock it probably means there's a problem with the dock, but I'm entirely sure.

An article by Hilkevitch reporting about Divvy so far:

Looks like Hilkevitch took a sip of the Divvy kool-aid. His tone is changing.

When you search the article in Google, you can circumvent the paywall. Like this:

Click on the link, et voila! Hat tip goes to John Greenfield.

Thanks for sharing, Lisa, and for the solution, Duppie.

Thank you! Yes, it does sound like he's changing his tune.
