Wow. Yes good in depth read.

Interesting to read the history regarding Ryne Hamel's politically connected family beginning with his grandfather. Article discusses how suburbs in Illinois are more likely to settle cases for additional $$; this was the case for Hamel's two prior DUI incidents.

As a baseball fan, Hamel knows best that three strikes make an out. Lock him up.

Excellent, and probably most in depth article surrounding the crash to date, put out by the Reader today.

Good read indeed.

It clearly shows what is wrong with DUI cases in Illinois.

I think that he probably would have gotten the same treatment in chicago vs the subburbs given the political connection and more importantly the money connection. I have heard of far to many cases of people having multiple dui's and a good majority of them have cash to pay the court off. Hopefully this will ba a case to address this horrible issue.

If you’re interested there’s also an automated system available that you can call to get updates on the court case info with regards to location, date and time. The number is 877-846-3445. Individuals calling this number can simply enter the offender's Identification Record number, which is 2208764 and receive court location, date and time. In addition, the automated system gives the option for individuals to enter their phone number to receive updated court information.

You can read some of the updates and follow the story at John Greenfield’s excellent reporting on http://chi.streetsblog.org

The petition to States Attorney Anita Alverez is still ongoing.  It’s worthwhile signing to keep the States Attorney aware that there still is a large public following, even though many of us are unable to attend the hearings or trial.  Every signature and comments are sent to the States Attorney. No harm is done if you sign the petition a second time.  In-person attendance is better, and still strongly encouraged if you are free.

You can sign the petition at http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/no-plea-bargain-for-ryne?source=c.... or you can email the States Attorney directly at statesattorney@cookcountyil.gov

Yes, that is accurate, John. Always could change but as of now it's been set for 12/20 at 10am.

I talked to someone who attended the November 8 hearing who believed the next one is Friday, December 20. Can anyone confirm this is accurate?

Same room, 310?

What other decisions or steps were taken?

In particular wasn't the question of returning the car of San Hamel to be considered on the 8th court hearing?

Did anything else come up?

Maybe the title of "Ryne San Hamel courtroom update" would be more accurate.

(Chi Lowe: could you change the title of this thread to something like "Bobby Cann courtroom updates"?)

So in your estimation, that would be more accurate and preferable to: "Trial of Ryan San Hamel?"

Were you unable to attend?

Leave the damn title of the thread alone, it's what we've been following and I'd rather see Bobby's name kept in front of everyone, he's who this is about.
