Since riding bikes is on my mind 75% of the time during the day, it's not surprising that it creeps in while I'm sleeping.
But last night's went a step further and took over my thoughts on running The Chainlink. Oh gosh.
I drempt that I woke up with 12 new members to approve and all of them were already Chainlink members. They couldn't log in so they reapplied. I guess it could be called a Tech Nightmare.
What are your crazy bike dreams/nightmares and other unconscious thoughts?

I've mentally replayed a few crashes and near misses in my sleep. I've also relived some really lovely rides. Seems like the lovely dreams have outnumbered the scary ones, as in real life. :)
I actually NEVER have bike dreams. All my anxiety dreams involve waiting tables with no pants on.
I used to have the dream where I am naked and no one else is. Or I never finished a last paper in college and didn't actually graduate.

last night i actually had my first bike dream that i can recall.
a drunk guy ran me over directly from behind. i distinctly remember 'seeing' his front bumper running into my back tire. somehow i was totally fine even though the car went right over me. he was pissed at me for passing him or something like that and while he was being taken away to an ambulance he seemed emotionally disturbed and was yelling about how he was wronged in the past. he looked like chuck liddell.
as far as i can recall, i was fully clothed.
For the past 1-1/2 years I have had these I-cannot-get-out-of-here dreams. Two thirds of them involve my trike. I am in a big house with multiple floors and many rooms. I keep trying to leave but I cannot find my way out or I forgot something. Enter the trike: it is gone, parts are missing, the tubing is now square rather than round or it is disassembled. Once the seat and pedals were missing and I tried riding it home like a toboggan. I am fully clothed and do not look like Chuck Liddell.
I used to have a LOT of combat-related dreams where my weapon would fail to fire -or if it did it would be ineffectual and not have any stopping power. My position would get over-run and everyone would be killed because I had failed to stop the enemy from breaching the defenses and making it through the fields of fire I was responsible for. Or the mines wouldn't go off when I tripped them because a wire came loose.
That, and enemy IED's everywhere. I have that when I'm awake too - I sometimes get freaked by crap at the side of the road or the trail sometimes -especially when I'm really tired and don't spot it until I'm right on it.
I also have bicycle/motorcycle crash dreams too. Usually it happens just as I'm falling asleep and having a good dream of riding fast and fun down a trail -then all of a sudden i'm losing the front end and it tucking-under. I will jerk awake with a rush of adrenaline and a quick inhale of breath -heart beating hard, often startling my wife with the violent jerk and the loud rush of air I'm sucking in with the panic.
i've learned to deal with bad dreams over the years. I used to have a lot of bad dreams where I was getting overpowered by troops or even monsters and my weapons wouldn't work. Then one night a few years ago I discovered that light-sabers ALWAYS work in dreams. When I got into trouble I just fired up the light-saber and just chopped the hell out of all the bad guys & monsters -just cleared house like Yoda from the last bad prequel. Those dreams went away after that realization, and rarely bother me any longer.
The quick losing-control of the front wheel dreams never really go away. Shit happens. I've crashed so many times IRL in the dirt racing motorcycles that it does't bother me all that much even though I still dream about it.
Awesome that your PTSD is under control. I knew one guy who was shellshocked just from basic training.

In basic training, and a long time after that I'd have "losing my rifle" dreams and would wake up a panic, upright in my bunk, standing at attention or twisting around looking for it. Losing a weapon is a BIG deal in the military. If given a choice between losing your weapon or your arm it'd be tough to decide which was worse. You'll be in serious deep shit trouble with paperwork and discipline either way...
Another Chainlink dream last night... I ran into someone wearing the new Chainlink wool jersey.

I have decided to buy another bike in the very near future, and I have decided on all of the pieces and parts that will go into it. I keep having dreams of going to the shop to pick it up and it is NOT WHAT I WANTED, but everyone is telling me it is just right.
Tell your subconscious that it needs to trust those Comrade guys!!! :) (just kidding, I know you do!) Glad to hear that the new bike is coming in the near future!
