I had to see my doctor today. When I went to lock-up my bike I encountered this beauty at the bike rack. I'm a sucker for a well worn and clearly worked commuter bike.  I left a note for the owner telling them how much I liked their bike. I didn't lift the plastic, but I'm pretty sure that was a Brooks saddle under that plastic bag.

Are you asking if we think it's ok to leave a note? Or if it's a bit creepy? I guess i'd prefer to tell the cyclist that I think they have an awesome bike in person.

No. I'm not asking IF something is OK. I didn't have time to stand around and wait to tell a person I liked their bike.

OK. Leaving a note on my bike would make me feel uncomfortable that something wrong has happened. Just sayin', I'm the nervous type.

Like those fenders. Clearly somebody's "old reliable."

I'm guessing Surly LHT based on the very long chainstays w/spare spoke.  The fenders are VO, not Honjo (the stays on Honjos are attached in 2 places).  I'll guess the dynohub is Sanyo.  The lights seem to be B&M.  All in all, a nice commuter setup that could also be put to use touring.

The frame, fork and components match my blue 2011 LHT, while the color is probably the olive green from 08/09.

I notice a Box Dog Bike sticker on there (on the seat tube). Possibly a transplant from the Bay Area, like myself.

Beads in the front? Maybe visited New Orleans on Mardi Gras? A well worn rack in the back for some carrying a box of paczki.

:-) this was first posted on fat tuesday, mardi-gras day. Paczki, yum! :-D

I think that this could be a good ongoing thread for admiring fellow cyclist's bikes and setups.
Somebody post another pic of 'A Thing of Beauty'.

Good idea!

Here's a sweet ride I saw locked up outside of Emerald City Coffee under the Sheridan Red Line stop. I like the bamboo fenders.

Great! Did you leave a note? :-)
