No, this isn't about seeking through meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understand Him and praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
It's about trying to ride to Three Floyds every month this year.
We start by taking the lakefront trail south from the Clock Tower. You can join up anywhere along the trail. Just let me know where so we can look for you.
It's not often you can get 5 beers rated 100 (Permanent Funeral, Dreadnaught, Arctic Panzer Wolf, Alpha King, and Zombie Dust) on tap!
45 miles total if you take the Metra back, 70 if you ride both ways. 15-18 mph. We don't make many stops. We don't always stay together. My goal is to get there before they open (at noon), so we don't have to wait as long to get in (it's the second-best brewery in the world, so sometimes there's a line). Returning, it's more relaxed. Bring money, a lock, water and snacks to have en route, and panniers for beer you can't get in Chicago.
Online resources: Google map, cue sheet, Metra schedule, Metra rules, and, to save us all a minute at the start, the nifty online CCC waiver.

enjoying the smoked salmon as i speak, so to speak. hoping they come through with smoked eel next time!
And the smoked salmon is AWESOME.
My thanks, too, to Bob for 11th stepping and the special treats at 3F. We missed the 4:11 by a few minutes but had no difficulty passing the time at Flossmoor.
Will, thanks, it was fun to ride with you again and to meet Jen.
Sergey, glad you had a good time, did you make the 4:10 train?
Awesome ride! Thanks, Bob!
Sounds good, we'll be there! There will be 4 of us total and I'll be wearing a green jacket on a black and white bike.
amanda, how about at the circle by the north ave lake shore dr entrance/exit? eta: 9:22. i'll be on a white bike with one gray pannier.
according to google street view, we can just turn at ewing. i see now that repaving s shore dr was part of the same project.
fyi, depending on the time, i might get off @ 31st (or the museum campus if on the train) and go straight to dinner.
final forecast:
Mostly cloudy in the morning, then overcast. High of 48F. Winds from the NW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of Precipitation 20% |
sergey, great idea. and if there's an exit at ewing, we don't have to go all the way over to s chicago ave.
will, eta @ Promontory Point: 10:02. :-)
Hi Bob, I was originally part of Joe's little group but now that he can't make it anymore I wanted to get in touch with you. A few of us planned on joining in at North Ave Beach. What time should we be there? Is that location ok, or is there a another spot south of belmont where people are meeting up? Looking forward to it!
