Description

Protected bike lanes will be coming to the 46th Ward within the next month! This new type of bike lane is planned for Broadway between Montrose and Ainslie. Representatives from CDOT will be in the ward office to answer any questions from residents and business owners on Wednesday, October 30 from 5-7 p.m. in the 46th Ward Office, 4544 N.Broadway. The project will redesign the roadway to ensure all roadway users – pedestrians, transit users, bicyclists, and motorists – can travel safely along and across the street, regardless of age or ability.

The data is quite clear that protected bike lanes improve safety for all road users and even economic activity.

They also help people of all ages and physical abilities be more comfortable biking in our city.

Wide open street designs with no bike lanes and high speeds might be enjoyable for you personally, but are not what is good for the health and safety of society and our city as a whole.

A good article describing the proposed changes can be found here:

Nooo I use this route to get to Chinatown.   Stop destroying everything I love, CDOT.

(Where the hell are you going to put a PBL north of Lawrence, anyways?)
