Suggested Routes from Chicago to Urbana, IL?

Hey guys! I'm hoping to make a trip down to Urbana, Illinois next weekend. Wondering if anyone has done this ride before and could offer some pointers or best routes! I'd like to make this a day trip, so I will probably take a Metra to Joliet to start the ride there. 

Any tips would be helpful! Thank you!

Counties are Will, Kankakee, Ford, Champaign.  Doesn't look like you can order the paper maps for the IDOT regions anymore.

You can take Amtrak. They allow bikes.

You can get close (Champaign is 2.5 miles from Urbana), distant (Rantoul is 16 miles), or far (Gilman is 55 miles). Etc.

Or take the other train to Bloomington IL (+60 miles by bike to Urbana).
