Short version: bought a decent mid-range foldie for $110, replaced a brake cable and got some lights for $50 more... And I'm thinking of getting a bag for it.

However, I don't want to spend MORE for a bag than what I paid for the bike itself.

Official "folding bike bags" cost about that much... Any interesting alternatives?

I considered a cheap suitcase. Mostly want to toss it in the car without it flopping all over.

Thanks!

Thanks! But... I guess you didn't read it closely enough.

Folding bike bags... Meaning bags for folding bikes. Not folding bags for regular bikes.
Just to clarify: the bike folds, not the bags.

I have read of people using this IKEA bag to corral their folders.

Aha! Thanks...I'll check it out.

+1.  I follow this blog and this is a widely recommended bag to carry a folder (http://www.ourlifeunfolded.com/how-to-take-a-brompton-on-a-plane-as...).  Don't know how this would fit your folder as Bromptons fold is the smallest.
