Chicagoland Bicycle Trail Conditions

I'm wondering we can have a consolidated and dedicated thread for conditions on the various trails in the Chicagoland Region (e.g. IPP, Fox River, Green Bay, North Channel, North Branch, I&M etc).

 

Some Guidelines:

Any information regarding closures, detours, good or bad weather-related events (flooding, muddy, dry and clear, etc)  would be welcome. Maybe a format like:

 

     Date:

     Trail:

     Conditions encountered:

 

Add the date, trail, and relevant places along the trail that you encountered the conditions. Please try to keep it current AKA do not post conditions from 3 months ago that are no longer relevant. Suggestions for format welcome.

If you make it a Group, you'll be able to create subcategories for IPP, Fox River, North Channel, etc. that will make it a bit easier to find, update and navigate current info about your desired trail rather than a lengthy discussion thread such as "I rode today, did you." Just a suggestion.

The IPP in Maywood obviously had a street sweeper go through yesterday, and is clear of broken glass between First Avenue and 17th Avenue. Thank you Maywood Public Works!

The I&M was smooth from Willow Springs to Joliet, bumpy Joliet until Morris or so, nice Morris through Marseilles, & muddy and nasty Marseilles to Ottawa as of Sunday-Wednesday 3/31-4/3. Everything was ride-able, though some sections were difficult and undesirable.

4/6 trail report

Rode 85 miles connecting the Kankakee River Trail, the Waunapossee Glacial Trail, and the I&M Centennial. The Kankakee River Trail is 10 miles of which 3 miles is crushed limestone and the rest is paved. The crush limestone was dry/clear and eased my mind about the comditions on the other 2 trails. The Waunapossee Glacial Trail (crushed limestone) was dry, clear, and flat. The limestone portion of the Centennial/I&M was dry, flat on the sides/bumpy in the middle and clear. Good riding today.

Does anyone know the current conditions of the Des Plaines River Trail north of Libertyville?  There's been a lot rain lately and I'm concerned about the highway underpasses being flooded out.

Just in case anyone else wants to know...  The DPR was in great shape today (7/12/13) from Wadsworth Road to several miles past the Old School Forest Preserve.

The Green Bay Trail and North Shore Bike Trail from Willmette through Lake Bluff to downtown Libertyville were in really good shape yesterday. A couple of soft spots effected half the crushed path but wasn't to deep and limited to less that 10 feet of trail, certainly passable. Had a great ride but it was a hot one.

As of yesterday, the North Branch Trail was from East Lake north to Lake-Cook was in great shape. No glass or significant hazards aside from an occasional low branch.

Any thawing on the North Branch Trail this weekend? I'd love to take advantage of this extra hour of daylight after work today...
