The Chainlink

Folks:

I'm looking for a route recommendation near Kenosha, WI, for a group ride I'm planning.

25-30 miles, trails or side streets preferred.

Roads are OK, as long as they are safe and not busy.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

David

I've no idea what sort of ride your looking for, but for a relaxed ride you could take the Kenosha County/McClory trail to Zion, ride the Illinois Beach State park trails, then take lakefront streets back (you can get to them from the marina via secret paths).   This would have a bit of unpaved riding of course.

This is somewhat related perhaps but does anyone have any advice on biking between Kenosha and Racine? I've biked from Chicago to Kenosha a number of times, but was thinking about pushing it a bit farther. I've never ventured further north though.

I know there is a bike path for most of the distance between the two cities.  If your search for bike directions on Google it should pop up.

A couple of years back when we rode from Brookfield Zoo to Milwaukee Zoo, I believe we bobbed and weaved through Kenosha until we caught the Pike Bike trail. This ends right around Carthage College, where you can take Birch rd to the County Bike trail. This goes all the way north about a half mile or 3/4 mile from the Racine marina. There's such great riding up that way; I'd love to do it again.

There's always somebody looking to do this.  I've spent 6 years riding it and talking about it.

Thanks all!

The Robert McClory trail continues into WI as the Kenosha County trail.  When that ends, you can ride 3-4 miles on roads to the County Bike Trail that takes you to Racine:

Here's another route that detours you towards the Kenosha lakefront and the Pike Bike Trail, before heading up to the County Bike Trail leading to Racine.  Its more scenic:
