You blew the red light east bound on Lawrence at Damen at 5:26 pm this evening.

There was enough time for the biker in front of me to make it half way into the intersection, northbound on Damen, before you came whizzing past my front wheel.

I yelled "You're an idiot!" at your big haired chick, self, and you looked back at me. I meant it!

I woulda testified for any of the cars, that managed to not kill you, if they had.

Keep riding like a tard!

love,

gabe

Witness bad behavior during your commute? Feel free to post. Maybe that lovely human can read it and think they are famous. Maybe you can also inspire the whole generation of kids to shower but we can start with small things.

Yesterday seemed really bad, too. I had a guy walk into the bike lane without looking to talk to a guy in a van. The van eventually passed me about 3 blocks later and then proceeded to pull directly in front of me and park in the bike lane when I was only about 20ft. back. I'm not a slow rider, so that's about 2 seconds max.

Then, about 3 blocks away from my house, a moving van is pulling out of an alley, the driver looks at me and then keeps pulling out until I'm directly in front of his grill. I yell "Hey" at him (that's my horn) and the dude starts yelling that I wasn't moving fast enough. Then as he's behind me, proceeds to step on the gas in the way that drivers do when then want to intimidate you. #1) I'm going the speed limit, maybe even over, cause it's 20mph on the street #2) the whole event from when he first saw me and pulled out was 3 seconds. If I was a car, dude would have waited, but nope.

Idiots.

Happy Friday!

I can relate. Lots of people think they are the only people that matter. It's a disregard for your fellow human being, these people are probably shitty people, in general, to strangers. You'll encounter these types of people everywhere, in town when you're on your bike, on the highway when you're driving out of state, at the post office when everyone else is in line, etc etc.

What in the fuck is wrong with people?!
Oh for sure, and I ride my bike every day and see all kinda if idiots. These people were particularly violently aggressive, and it seemed to be more on purpose than it was being clueless or rushing to get somewhere.

I can't even begin to list all the ridiculous stuff I saw in about 10 minutes during evening rush today. Every idiot and his brother was out.

38 mph on your track bike? how many sensor magnets do you have on your wheel?

28 mph. Really?  Is your speedometer properly calibrated?

WOAH!!!! Smartphone typo. I meant to say 28. I just have one. I probably went faster since I catch the warmth of the vehicles passing by which helps me increase my speed from time to time and I glance at my speedometer. I did top it out before on a hill run and caused to read zero after i topped it out.

What does that mean? I am not familiar with that term.

This morning was MUCH better. Only one encounter- a dude in a semi parked on the right on Milwaukee let the guy in front of me pass and then almost doored me. Luckily I was JUST far enough out. I yelled careful and cracked up when I heard "watch where you're riding" in reply... I'm in the bike lane jack ass. Where else am I supposed to ride?

That almost nearly caused me to spit my coffee onto my screen. Close call. I was bad myself today. I regret it. Although for the most part safe cycling all around.

I was so bad today, I think I shoaled myself.

missed connecting w/ an oblivious pedestrian by .5 inches biking south on Dearborn yesterday afternoon. She blindly stepped into the bike lane and all I could do was yell "HEY HEY HEY HEY". Someone was biking North so I couldn't swerve. Honestly I don't know how i DIDN't hit her, but I'm so glad we didn't connect. Another biker shouted at her "look to your left!" so i was glad others were lookin out. really shook me up. bunch of dimwits using that bike lane yesterday as an alternative sidewalk. ugh.

131008, 7:35 PM, Monticello @ Cortland: If, as a pair of cyclists traveling together, you're going to ride the wrong way down a one-way street, perhaps at least stay on the same side of the street?

131009, 9:00 AM-ish, Diversey/Milwaukee/Kimball:  It would have never occurred to me to sit on my bike in this intersection during morning rush hour and plainly fire up a one-hitter.  It not only occurred to you, but you turned that thought into an action item.
