I wasn't too pleased with the result for a few reasons ... but first, I'd like to know who went to this thing from this group, if any ....

Nah, I'm too scared to go on the Wednesday rides but I go to the Monday ones now and then.

But, I'd love to hear what happened this evening.
I've been considering checking out that ride. You going to spill the beans or what?

Gonna have to wait till morrow to hand in the report boys, this old man's 2 pooped out from 2+ hours of pedling for his life ....
I've been trying to get out to either of the Monday or Wednesday training rides but haven't made it work with my schedule. How many people tend to show up?

hi jst1,
not sure if i introduced myself to you yesterday (i'm terrible w/ names and some were def there just to ride and not chat), but that was indeed me, the stupid guy that showed up on a TT bike w/o a helmut (long story w/ the helmut, or the lack thereof) ...
the thing is, i've been trying to find out more info about the ride before attending, like what i need and what to expect, it was def made much more difficult not knowing where i was going (made one wrong turn and missed one light and was already left way behind, a lot more braking and accelerating than necessary when playing follow the leader) and the road conditions (hence the TT bike w/o lights) ...
also, i found it odd when coming back that the map said just the street in front of dunk don instead of cali/dodge. does everyone in chicago know that cali = dodge? i didn't and it was frustrating to find my way back on roads w/o streetlights ...
all in all, met some nice/quiet ppl, got to northfield (willow/94) before i realized i got an extra 4 miles to go from dunk don to home and it was getting really dark, and it was def good to know what it feels like to avg 20 mph for 25+ miles. the farest/longest i ever gone previously on a stretch was around 22.5 miles avg 17.5 mph, still a long way to go ....

It was good ride with around 15 people. Ride is over until spring; tough riding in a tight peloton after twilght!

This would make a negative experience for a couple of newbies to this group:
One rider (maybe it was warren) showed up on a time trial bike (not safe/suited for a fast club ride (+ no helmet)). Another touched a wheel and went down (a little road rash). A few dropped out before we got northfield/glencoe.
I rode and have been doing these rides for 4 years. We ended up doing as total of 28.5 miles but the darkness was a factor. jst1 is the one with the "sexy" legs and that great wool jersey?
yeah, i think it should say somewhere to highly recommend doing the mondays ride first especially for newbs as well as a note about drops ...

Hi all. I am one of the ride leaders of this group. Definetly reccomend the tamer and more informative Monday night rides. We tend to stick together a little more on Monday. With some hints on pacelines, rotating, sprints etc,,,,Wednesday nights are more for the ones that have done group rides before and we tend to be a little faster than Mondays. The sad part is, this week is our last week rideing. Daylight or the lack there of is the main reason. Definetly check us out. We won't bite!
