Damen/Wellington- Her Dad says enough is enough and wants her name and bike removed. Tired of the reminder. What can we do? The city won't do it and no one from ATA or chainlink will do it- do we remain selfish and leave it up for our own purposes or honor the family's wishes? Most cyclists I talk to say 1 year on the street is enough time.
Discuss.

what is ATA?
yes, family's wishes should be respected. I used to go by that spot all the time. Dangerous spot. Maybe Active Transportation Alliance could get city to install an extra sign there?

I don't understand why this is being presented as having been communicated before-- I think I'd have noticed if it was.
Unless I receive a personal call to discuss I'm going to call BS here.

I don't answer blocked numbers. Feel free to call until midnight.
In the meantime I don't think anyone else needs to pile on to the "family's wishes should be respected" meme-- I really don't think there's anyone out there who would suggest otherwise.
I should add-- typically if ATA gets such a request, I would be contacted. And typically if the city gets such a request, I would be contacted. So it's not just the unlikely possibility that I missed a previous chainlink thread that leads me to suspect we're dealing with a steaming pile here.
And further-- this is why I no longer participate in any media efforts that call attention to Ghost Bikes-- because they bring out the folks that can't sleep at night because they know there are ghost bikes out there and are consumed by the "unfairness" of the city allowing them to persist.
Feel free to call any time today or tomorrow. If I can't answer I'll call you back when I can. I'll see that the bike is removed promptly if I can get confirmation that this is legit.
