As the title suggest, I thought  we could use this thread as a way to post open invitation training rides. This Sunday, I'm doing a lakefront ride:

Map:    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5841901

Start: Buckingham Fountain

End: Buckingham Fountain

Start Time: 9am

End Time: 11:30-noon-ish

Pace: I'd like to keep around a 14-18 mph pace

Description:

It's just simply riding the lakefront in it's entirety. It equates to about 36 miles + whatever miles it'll take to get to Buckingham and back (for me 42 total miles). Weather looks like crap for Sunday (chance of rain - 40 degrees) - from my experience training for marathons, I've found crappy conditions only make me stronger.

That would be sweet

I may be able to swing that, on friday.  Ill let you know as the week progresses. I am out for the weekend due to work like things. Got my card to do the FVP on April 13 if anyone would like to join.

Joe, I'm planning on doing the FVP with you guys on  April 13th, but I'm sorta on-call, so can't commit 100% until a couple days prior. I'll get register this week though.

Cool, i have another guy from my office that is going to be doing it that day as well. We are going to be taking the first metra out that morning to the start.

Nice. Is your co-worker super speedy? I am mostly worried about being alone on that first leg through Naperville/Warrenville that has busier streets.

In case you missed it, we are doing a relaxed 40 mile ride this Sat on the Fox River trail:

So, I'm going to get a quick training ride in tomorrow morning (Friday) before work because my weekend is booked up.

Map:    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5841901 (same as TR #1)

Start: Buckingham Fountain

End: Buckingham Fountain

Start Time: 6 am sharp!

End Time: 8:30 am

Distance: 36 miles roundtrip + whatever it takes for you to get to Buckingham.

Pace: I'd like to keep around a 15+ mph pace

I'll be riding a green trek with hi-viz orange jacket.

I'm pretty sure no one was planning on attending, but I'm canceling the training ride at 6am in favor of sleep.
Last minute Notice- I'm going to take the metra out to libertyville tomorrow and ride the Des Plains
Trail back to the city.

I'm taking the first train out, and boarding at Healy at 8:49am. I'll be riding at about a 16mph pace and the route should be about 45 miles back to Logan square, arriving around 1pm. If anyone really wants to do this, I can also reschedule to Sunday...

Wish I could make this, but I've got a class tomorrow from 9am - 3pm and Sunday I've committed myself to building an apiary in my community garden. Next weekend, I'm planning a big ride...80 miler or so on Saturday.

You may want to rethink taking the DPRT... i rode past the Winkleman rd. trailhead (Wheeling) this AM and all i saw was ice and mush. When i drove over the Euclid av bridge wednesday afternoon, the DesPlaines looked to be in flood and the parking lots there were closed. i don't know about the Lake Co end of the trail, which is much better kept, but i don't think you'll get very good trail conditions.

That's a great point, thank you! I forgot that I was skiing (not biking) that trail only a few weeks ago...
