I would like to change the handlebars on my single speed Fuji Del Rey from bullhorns to Riser Handlebars, because I would to have a more upright riding position and I would like to purchase the handlebars online, because it seems much cheaper than buying it in a bike store. How do I know what size to buy? Is there a difference? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated - total novice here!

Yeah, you have to get the diameter size that fits your bar stem. I could be wrong but I believe the usual size for road bikes is 26mm and for mountain bikes is 25.4mm. On your bullhorns it might have the size they are, so you can get the same diameter on your new risers.
u could also always try and look up your models' specs. it might say it there.
Thanks for the info - I will definitely check out Irv - I have a 1980s Fuji Del Rey touring bike - used to be a 12 speed ... converted to a single speed with bullhorns.

I did a bunch of searching for you and couldn't find a definitive answer, but feel reasonably confident that the clamp diameter is 25.4 mm (= 1 inch).
If you buy onine you'll either need to make sure the diameter is listed, or just take your chances.
I'll betcha you could find what you need at Irv's at Racine and 18th for about the same price as online, and they could tell you what will fit too.
One bit of confusion though-- the Del Rey is shown pretty consistently online with risers as stock configuration. How did yours come to have bullhorns? Or are we maybe muddying the terminology?
Stop by and see Marcus at Yojimbo's Garage. He'll help you with the right size and he has several bar types you can choose from.
