Kind of missing a "who did you see on your commute" today but for people you are not able to identify. So here goes. I know you nord' sidersss are swimming in random strangers on bikes, but where I live it's not quite a daily occurrence to see another cyclist on my way to/from work.

Hi! I'm out there and I'm in your hood!
My regular commute is from my home at 21st and Rockwell to Stickney (43rd St near Harlem), so mostly down Cermak and then Ogden. I rarely see any other cyclists.
I also ride to Oak Park 2 or 3 days a week, and I looove the new protected bike lanes from Douggie Park down Douglas Ave, up Independence, that connect to Washington, so most of it is in a dedicated lane, now. Yay!
When does Cermak get a bike lane? For real.
I virtually never see other commuters on my route even at the height of the summer in perfect riding weather. The Northwest Side out toward Harwood Heights and the like is a real ghost town for commuter bicyclists. I finally saw someone last night, but I had to get all the way to Bryn Mawr and the North Branch Trail for it to happen. I am the big person in the bright yellow upper garment and the blue tights and black bike shorts on the lower half on the old ancient breaking down 1980's road bike.
Maybe we've seen each other, David. In the morning, I commute via Bryn Mawr and Forest Glen Ave to the ...Forest Glen Metra. On my way home, I do the same reverse commute back to Andersonville. I see a handful of other cyclists on my rides, so they're out there.
actually i'm seeing a lot of new people! in warmer months, i needed to leave early to get to work in time to change clothes and didn't see any bike commuters.
Of course I am a nord sider, and I do see a lot of bicycle commuters. Maybe I should get a sign that says "Good morning. Are you on the Chainlink?"
I'm still riding but not on the northside. ALso I leave at around 6:15am so I hardly ever see anyone. But sometimes I do! But I'm shy so I don't say anything but I should! I ride damen to milwaukee to chicago mostly and have a pink backpack! LOVING RIDING IN THE COLD it's so much fun! wooooooo
I see two people regularly on my commute...east on Fulton. Hello dude in grey helmet/jacket and hello dudette in blue jacket!

My comment: Possibly in the evening. When it is light out I tend to take a more direct route with more traffic. My normal route in the AM is Wilson to Elston to Lawrence to Higgins. At night, in the winter, I go a slower and less traffic based route home which it includes Bryn Mawr and Forest Glen. By the time I get to the Forest Glen Metra, a portion of my trip is done. (I go essentially from Lincoln/Irving/Damen to Cumberland and Bryn Mawr. )
That is north of Madison, so that is the north side ;-). I am in the neighborhood, but you are about an hour ahead of me.

I commute from Skokie to the Medical District via Pulaski-Elston-Odgen but I usually leave Skokie around 5am and so don't see too many fellow bikers on my commute other than Henry which I catch up with around Elston and Addison (although I haven't seen him in a few weeks). The return trip starts around 4pm. I'm usually in a blue jacket with a yellow backpack, helmet flashers as well as bike mounted lights.
hey - that is the west side ("the best side") - I live there ;-)
