Looking for some recommendations from people who have recently purchased/installed hooks/shelves in their apartments to hang their bikes. I don't have that much extra room (or extra money, for that matter) but I want to at least explore my options so my roommates can stop referring to the room I've been using for my 2 bikes as "The Bike Room." I know they'd be a little happier if I had at least one on the wall instead of the floor.

thanks!

there is a previous thread about this topic. Give me a minute.

Here is a thread about these hooks I use.  I'm pretty happy with them.

Thanks Julie!

I love mine!! At Amazon.

Erin,

Check on CraigsList- I found a used one similar to Jenn's for $20.

I use the shelves for closets that come with the little hook at the end for a rod to go across. I found the studs with a "stud finder". and screwed on a small shelf .It's cheep...less than $10 at home depot

That looks so great! I love the idea of having a shelf for my helmet too. that's such a great idea, thanks for the tip & the links.

Awesome and very ingenious!...    Did the "Pulp Fiction" poster come with that too?  :)

I have this 4sale on CL/// shoot me an email if interested.  It worked well for me when I was lacking room, but now that I have more room, it is not needed:  http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/bik/3427932660.html

I have this too, if you want it for free (frame not included).

That hanging contraption looks really great - was it difficult to install? It looks like you have it in a garage and I'm hoping to do something in my apartment - do you think that would work?

I assume you mean the one w/ the frame on it? That is actually in the house; two bolts into a stud in the wall.  Simple as that.  Like, I said, it is free if you want it.  The other is a floor to ceiling, and it is fitted for two bikes- you can use it with one bike on top of other or configure it so each side carries the bike.  Both are super easy to utilize indoors.
