So when we were talking about lights earlier this month we never touched on this bad boy!
Has anyone pre-ordered one of these?

40-60 lumen isn't too bright or anything, I imagine the selling point of this fancy light is that it is theft proof?
I don't really like the design that much, it looks a lot like the revolving part of a revolver-type pistol. Which is not exactly something I want permanently mounted on my bike.
Yeah, I would think that the power of the light isn't the selling feature, yet its ability to remain on the bike in the middle of NYC and not be stolen.
I would say the design is to make it seem tougher on the streets of NYC as well.
We need a 'Second City' version...
I've got one. It's ok.
More than bright enough for my "to be seen" purposes and it is nice not having to worry about taking a headlight off whenever I stop somewhere. That said, I still have to take off my rear light and the Knog Blinder 4 (a very underrated light!) my Gotham replaced is USB rechargeable, just as waterproof and probably brighter.
I hate batteries.
a new review: http://urbanvelo.org/gotham-defender-review/
I used the Defender this past winter, but when it warmed up to where I wasn't usually wearing thick gloves and there was less temperature-driven impetus to rush through locking up/unlocking, I put the Knog Blinder 4 back on.
I have a clip that features that design but the light is removable and much larger.
Remember that nothing is theft "proof" it only takes longer to steal.
