Looking for Skuut or balance bike for 5yo

A friend wants a balance bike for her son, but can't really afford the price of a new one right now. Craigslist and Ebay are not pulling up much that's affordable enough right now.

Does anyone in the city have one sitting around that their kid has outgrown?

hi- we have a strida that can go cheap or we would be glad to help them build their own by removing the pedals from a cheapie they might get a working bikes. We have a post about building your own on chicargobike that works pretty well.

I decided to go the DIY route. I flagged down a scrapper and got a kid bike for $5, and have stripped and repainted it (it was a Dora the Explorer bike, and is now becoming a Lego bike ;)

I will post pics of the process in a day or so, once the bike is done!
