When I designed my current frame, the only consideration for theft deterrence/avoidance was that the simplicity might detract thieves. I also always replace the QR skewers with either bolt on or security ones.
After seeing so many theft report here, it made me wonder - If you had carte blanche - free range - when designing a bike frame and full bike from the ground up, what would you consider?
To get this kicked off, here are some of my additional thoughts, feel free to expand or add on:
- Lock integrated into the frame - like dutch bikes.
- The frame is the lock, (very transendental)
- "jostle" Audible Alarm - like a car alarm
- Deeply embedded/integrated gps "LoJack"

An O Lock is great in that it requires the thief to carry your bike and when put in combo with a decent lock on the front end might cause a thief to move on. I think its weight is irrelevant when talking about a city bike.
