On my way from Andersonville to Evanston, I get to see one of my favorite local artist's mural.

It always makes me happy to see it in person. So, I wanted to ask everyone, what's their favorite thing to see when commuting?

Not just to you, James, but OMIGOD I love passing restaurants when biking. In one trip, I smelled: smoked meat, freshly baked bread, smoked bacon, cookies, pastries, and then even more smoked meat. *drool*
Also, biking by Half Acre Brewery when they're brewing is awesome. If you like the smell of wort that is.

I'm an ogler. I like to look at the bikes people are riding. I suppose a lot of folks think I'm looking at their butts -but it's their hardware I'm eyeing as I pass -not the software.
Beyond the scenery on my routes I also like the smellery. I always perk up when I go by a chocolate factory -and a good restaurant/street vendor or backyard cookout that smells delicious as I ride by.
My favorite thing is noticing something for the first time even though you may have ridden past it a hundred times before.
Wrigleyville and Viagra Triangle. So much cheese oozing from those places.
I love seeing the little kids... The ones that look at you and smile! Especially the ones that are like 'Oh! Look at that bike!'. *I love when my kid 'checks out' someones bike! It makes me giggle!* I even love to see the screaming babies in the strolling! (I am afraid I will be reported as some kid of creepier because I am always smiling and waving.) I love the noise of kids on playgrounds, laughing, or playing. Silly things kids do always put me in a better mood...
There is so many things you miss while you are in a car: the sights, sounds, and smells! Of course, We all know this! That's why we ride!
I always love rounding Shedd Aquarium in the morning and seeing the cityscape laid out before me. I just love that shot of the city.
Sunrise from Cemetery Curve on Sheridan at the Evanston/Chicago border.
The smell of trees in bloom.
Lake Michigan when it's sparkling.
I like to ride through Wrigleyville at night and high-five the bro's.
That must be Chicago's most photographed/filmed bridge. more than once a week, I see a photographer either shooting models or a wedding.
I do like riding over that bridge.

Me too- I always try to look around for new things that I haven't seen before and even though I just go up and down the same route every day there's always something little and neat I haven't seen before.
I really like passing dog daycares and dog parks- all the dogs romping around together and having a great time. Also, randomly, I find going past some dumps/waste processing sites by United Center pretty interesting and enjoy hearing all the gulls overheard, battling it out over tasty scraps and shiny things. Always love going over the river too.

I live in Uptown and work in Skokie, so there's plenty to see on the way. I like the sights on the North Shore Channel Trail, particularly the art garden along McCormick Blvd.
My typical commute: Everytime I pass Chava coffee shop I want to stop in for a lemonade. Passing Le Creperie reminds me of many yummy meals with friends. Passing the Bikram Yoga studio I think about all the great classes I took. When I pass Sultans I want falafel.
