I need to do some 30 - 50 mile rides with lots of hills in preparation for a trip to Glacier NP later this year. Does anyone know of any routes? Willing to travel as far as Galena, I know its pretty hilly out there.

If you ride from Arlington Heights to Lake Geneva that is about 2000 ft of hills. That is a fun ride, too.
The area around Kettle Moraine south has some rolling hills and you can take the metra up to Harvard to start. The 15 miles to Delevan, WI are flattish but after that they pick up steadily.
You could try Barrington Hills or Palos Hills. :)
A few of my fiends and I did this ride last week, barring ton hills area, there are a couple of killers out there in the fox river grove area too
we had tire issues so we had to detour to palatine to solve em... Thanks Mike's Bikes
Sheridan has a bunch of ravine roads that I trained on to go to colorado. Ride up sheridan then down at Tower, then Park in highland park repeat repeat repeat. Otherwise Galena is good, also Dodgeville Wi.

Here's an old thread with a variety of good ideas.
You should of have done BIKE THE DRIVE TODAY....
I have a couple of 50 mile loops near Princeton with around 1500' of climbing, 2 Cat. 5 climbs. The area between Galena and Mt. Carroll is probably the hilliest area in northern IL. I mapped a 60 mile loop from Mt. Carroll that has 7 Cat 5 climbs and 2550' of total climbing.

Mark,
That sounds ideal. Can you e-mail me the routes? tdesideri@sbcglobal.net
