Hey all,

I got invited to join this group on facebook because of another group I'm associated with.

Regardless of how you feel about "hipsters" living in Pilsen, a group promoting violence against cyclists is unacceptable. I would encourage everyone to send a message to the woman who formed this group and share your thoughts.

Posts in the group such as this:

'I hit a hipster with my car smoking a roll up and she call me a spic.. and kept on biking'

'ooo how about getting in a car really fast and then opening the driver door side when they roll up...and they are riding with no hand hopefully lol'

    • To do what exactly? Give me details!

Dearest Lana Flack,

Are you threatening me with a good time? I really do love being threatened with a good time.

  • I'll leave this off here because it's the internet and everyone who argues on it is pretty silly but if you message me again with your petty whiney dickless bullshit there will be a real-life issue. Got it? Good. I knew we'd understand one another.

Suprised to scroll down and see some of my own Facebook feed. Lanna is actually personal friend of mine. Not only does she ride a bike, but I know she wouldn't actually push someone off theirs. I'm not saying that this is okay, but this group seems to be more directed towards Pilsen resident's vitriol towards people they see as "hipsters" than an actual concerted effort to wreak violence upon cyclists. Perhaps as cyclists we should preserve our knees by not jerking them at every rambling yahoo on the interwebs.

Gillian, your friend actually is threatening me and I'm pretty far from a hipster. You need better friends.

I would advise you to remember that the internet is an aspirational place in which we attempt to be more badass than we actually are. It would be better for everyone's blood pressure if they would stop engaging, which is what I am going to do right now! :)

A better course of action would be to let your friend know she's an idiot and should delete the group she is helping admin in which she is threatening to harm cyclists. I don't care if she actually is one. But I guess you could not doin anything and wait for her bad behavior to actually affect you in some way. Good call.

I already talked to her. Thanks, though!

It would appear they changed there group name and reopened the group as well. Perhaps your wise words changed her life. Well done! :-)

Mission accomplished.

I'm keeping screenshots of all the threats they have posted. In case someone reports that they were harmed in such a way, at least it's something to go on for the police.

Facebook's less than helpful response to my flagging of the offensive page:

"Hi,

Thanks for your recent report of a potential violation on Facebook. After reviewing your report, we were not able to confirm that the specific group you reported violates Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities.

Learn more about what we do and don't allow by reviewing the Facebook Community Standards: https://www.facebook.com/communitystandards.

Thanks, Viki"

Yeah. Thanks a lot, Viki.

LOL at the Zuckertards.   Being on Facebook is its own punishment.
